Re: catalog releases question
I just posted a big update on the front page with all the titles through May. Follow Me Boys and Those Calloways are both coming in February, supposedly. I also upated Upcoming Releases with the new info.disneyfella wrote:o.k. i am totally psyched about the new release of catalog titles scheduled for next year. from reading, i've heard that follow me boys and those calloways will be coming.....but can anyone list the titles that are in consideration? i know it may be a lot, but i seriously can't wait much longer.........(I WANT THE ONE AND ONLY, GENUINE, ORIGINAL FAMILY BAND!!)

And will it be released under the Disney banner or the Anchor Bay one again?Disneykid wrote:Hmmm...you say Return to Oz is being re-released as a Disney DVD in February. I wonder if they'll add more features to it (doubt it, but it's good to hope).
Didn't someone say Darby O'Gill was slated for release around that time too?
Still, looks like a promising start to what could be an even better year for Disney DVD than this one.

Check the front page if it's not clear. All these releases will be Disney. Great Locomotive, Midnight Madness, and Return to Oz will be repackaged. I assume it will be the exact same disc with new packaging and artwork, at best.Loomis wrote:And will it be released under the Disney banner or the Anchor Bay one again?

MMB said Darby is coming sometime next year.
According to the Upcoming page, it's being released as a Disney DVD, not Anchor Bay. Hmm...
And yes, next year looks like a better Disney DVD year than this one with Alice in Wonderland, Pocahontas, Lilo and Stitch, Freaky Friday, Mary Poppins, Aladdin, Brother Bear, Darby O' Gill, Three Lives of Thomasina and others.

I'm sure you are happy about Alice In Wonderland huh? I have to watch that movie again soon! I haven't watched in when I bought the Gold Classic Collection on video!Disneykid wrote:According to the Upcoming page, it's being released as a Disney DVD, not Anchor Bay. Hmm...

I'm not sure about the others, but this threadindicates it will be released in France, and this one says the UK will be getting....a 6 DVD set!disneyfella wrote:does anyone know if disney is in talks to release any of the following to dvd this coming year?

So hopefully that bears good news for the US in terms of Treasures or other Zorro sets. I believe there is a sequel to the recent Banderes Zorro picture in the works, so perhaps Disney US is waiting for a tie-in with that (or more likely, a cash-in).

Well, I don't think any of them will be Special Editions, but it's possible a few here and there could have some special features. I'm hoping they're not all barebones and pan & scan as the catalogue releases of the past have mostly been, but there's just no way of knowing this now, without getting inside info from Trojan Mouse or some other insider. Hopefully, we'll know more than a few weeks in advance at least.
It's pretty futile for Disney to still do fullscreen on the catalogue titles, since the 'family' audience they try to reach that doesn't like widescreen usually aren't buying movies that have been available on VHS for years and years. Not always, but I'm sure that more folks prefer widescreen on the catalogue releases.

DuckTales the Movie most likely in 2004. And Inga is not a "he", FYI.Boogedy Boo wrote:Well Inga Tu Schmista said Child of Glass may be coming possibly next year. He said it's up in the air though. But just the idea of it coming gets me excited. I really hope it happens.
Isn't DuckTales supposed to come out in 2004 as well?

I'm extremely pleased about Ruby Bridges. It's my favorite TV movie of all time and I'll be glad to double dip for the DVD. (The VHS was the last VHS I ever bought, last year, only because it was really cheap and didn't seem like an obvious choice to get a DVD.) This one, at least, as well as the early '90s WWoD and Disney Channel movies are all 1.33:1 OAR, I think, so we will be getting those presented properly, too.

we have to call disney and tell them we want this in widescreen! also I can't believe they're releasing Follow me, Boys! as a catalog tittle!!!! omg!
Today I ordered Watcher in the Woods and Something Wicked this way comes on DVD but it looks like Disney might re-release them under the Disney DVD banner by the look of other Anchor bay releases. I don't care to own 2 Watchers It's my favorite disney 80's live action after Tron
