What Disney DVD extra did you just watch?

Post by Evil Genie Jafar »

Just to make an incentive for us to watch the extras. 8)

For me:

The making of Bambi and Sleeping Beauty; it does really make you appreciate the movies much more.

Let me give more insight into this:

The Bambi making of was really interesting. As I usually get bored by slow paced movies... and Bambi is a kind of movie that for me I just wathc once every so often. Watching the making of with the insight of so many animators and people working for Disney really makes you appreciate it much more and the next time you wathc it you do it with different eyes.

.... besides, it was very complete.

The Sleeping Beauty making of was too short; and given the importance of all that it helped create in the animation department, it deserved much more; but that's why their making the PE.... altough for me I'm just pleased with this edition.

... and I also watched the Restoration Progress of BAMBI. I loved it! It is extremely interesting but I would like it to have been longer and that every PE had one.

PS

It should be gret to be there in the moment where they say: "Ok, time to bring X movie from the vault to restore it"..... and being able to go there and pick it up. 8)

I just watched the featurettes on the Darby O'Gill and the Little People dvd about how they did the special effects and how disney was ahead of the game during the 50s, and the bio about Sean Connery, who knew he could sing! ;) not very in depth about him though.

The doc about the special effects really is amazing, the tricks they used way back in the 50s were amazing, and you'd never guess how they were done, espescially the one with the mirrors and part of the silver scratched away! Absolutely fascinating!

When I first saw this dvd for preorder, I was excited it has "I captured the King of the leprechauns" as a bouns feature, but when i saw it i waqs pretty underwhelmed. It's pretty much just the film chopped up. When you've just watched the film and go on to watch this, it just seems a bit dull!

I'm going to copy my remarks from the other thread into here, as they still apply:

"My only request is that we do not bother with title-only posts. If you want to do that, it sounds like something for Polls & Games, namely a big open-ended, non-stop poll. This forum is called "General Discussion" and this thread would be wonderful if everyone made an effort to share their thoughts on the Disney movie they just watched. You don't need to put colossal chunks of time into your post the way UD's reviewers do, but I don't think writing a few sentences or a paragraph for each title is asking too much."

Same goes for here, except that you probably won't write as much about a single supplement. There's a good chance you won't just watch a single supplement at a time either, so writing a sentence or two per bonus feature would give us a good idea of what are extras to check out and which are ones to skip.

If you want this thread to simply be a post the supplement titles, then I can move it to Polls & Games, and it can act as such, but I think with some discussion of bonus features, this can be a very productive thread, and there is certainly no such thing as having too many of those!

I do hope it stays open.

As I said, the reason why I created it was to make it like an incentive to go watch them. As we usually go out asking for tons of extras and then we either don't watch them, or watch some of them or just once.

... but if this doesn't work I won't mind.

Well I just watched this about 2 months ago on VHS, but it's also on that Disney DVD, so I'll count it: the 15-minute retrospective making-of Fun and Fancy Free.

Okay. Here is more in depth of what I watched.

The most recent Disney DVD I watched was The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and the bonus features were very nice. I liked A Day for Eyore, but Pooh's voice sounded much deeper then the other Pooh shorts. The animation had improved greatly though. Next, I watched a "Making of" featurette. It was about 53 minutes long so I did now watch the full thing (I will when I have more time!) It was just about how Walt was inspired to bring the series alive after hearing his wife read the stories of Winnie the Pooh to his children and their constant laughter. I found that very enjoyable. Also there were a few games, but I never play any of them. The menus were nice, but I didn't really like the leaves thing. It just didn't belong there I think, but that is just me so I don't want to stop anyone from buying the DVD. It is a great Disney DVD to add to your collection. I am slowly building up mine with A Very Mary Pooh Year (What ever it is called. ) Pooh's Heffalump Move, and Many Adventures 25th Anniversary Edition. Also I just finished watching Pooh's Heffalump Movie and I think it is the best Pooh movie of all time. I recently lost my best friend and when I heard that song about best friends I just got all weapy because it reminded me of the good times we had together. Oh, the magic of Disney!

I like watching "Making of Bambi and the Great Prince of the Forest," on the Bambi PE DVD. For some reason I'm really fasinated with this extra and the new sequel even though the movie might not be so great. Well I like the extra because they kinda tie in how they made the classic movie as well. However, I'm disgusted with the actors they're going to have in the new movie except may be Patrick Stewart. They also show different clips of the new movie than in the trailer which, makes me curiouser and curiouser. I like the extra but that's me... I feel that many of you who have the Bambi PE, might think the opposite. Just because we all have our different oppions but I still suggest you watch it.

I was at my best friend's house and I made him watch the making of Aladdin.

Simply.... AWESOME!!!

I'm sorry for The Lion King lovers and even the ones that just like the movie... as it truly deserved a making of like this one, but I'm SOOOOOO happy I got one for my favorite movie.

Not only this "making of" is long! (yeah), it is not boring, they brought so many important people, I loved the way the went back and forth in the interviews with a brief history of the true Aladdin's story, recording sessions, tapes from the 92.... it so complete I just love it.

I also got to watch again: Genie World Tour (fun 3 min listening to Jafar and Iago), the Genie Lamp Tour with Iago was very funny.... and the Rescue Jasmine game made a fun ride in the carpet.

PS

I don't know who told Gilbert Gottfried that doing using his "Iago's voice" for the complete making of was funny. The joke got old like 20 min or so since he started.

I would have loved to see a "restoration progress" extra like Aladdin... but I guess since the movie is not as old as Bambi it didn't deserve it; but I think it very well did as the same with all the PE.

... and great chane of the menus since The Lion King; this time they were too linear but so much better than the all spread and guessing menus from TLK.

I always thoght that WAS his REAL voice as that is what he has used in everything.

Well, watch him in the recording sessions when his just talking and his voice sounds different.

You're right... that's his voice but when he talks more calm in that session he sounds "normal".

I just heard the Rutt and Tuke commentary on Brother Bear.

As I said in other post, it was an interesting idea but I found it VERY boring.

I don't know if it was because I didn't find them funny in the movie in the first place but on the audiocommentary were even less funny. I found that at the beginning they had a very nice idea on how to go with it but very soon they didn't know what to talk about and just kept going nowhere with pointless comments.

I watched some of the bonus features on my Complete Pluto DVD the other day, as well as most of Disc 2 of The Incredibles (I didn't watch the "secret files" section or the "more making of" part).

I also watched Frankenweenie and Vincet on a friend's The Nightmare Before Christmas DVD, although I requsted not to watch any more or to watch the movie, as I am going to buy the DVD very soon. :)

I've just watched Jump 5 ripping apart the once beautiful "Hawaiian Rollercoaster Ride" on Lilo and Stitch 2: Stitch has a Glitch. Thankfully the 2 disc Lilo and Stitch in the UK includes the Gareth Gates "Suspicious Minds" music video (and presumably he's on the closing credits too).

Seriously, the new HRCR arrangement sucks.

"Ladies and gentlemen. Gareth has left the building."
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database
