Lion King DVDs now shipping!
Lion King DVDs now shipping!
The wait is nearly over - DVDSoon.com have confirmed that my copy of the Lion King Collectors Gift Set shipped 9/26 - only 5 more days to hold out!

In spite of the venom I've been spewing at Disney giving us a slightly-above-mediocre DVD of my favorite film, after waiting 6 1/2 years to debut on the format...I'm going to be getting the Gift Set on 10/7. Maybe 10/6 actually - there's a store I know that is okay with breaking street dates, even on major titles...so if the price is reasonable and they have the Gift Set (two big IFs), I might get it a day early. Of course, we've all waited years for this. But I'm not sure if that means waiting a few more days should be nothing...or the wait MUST end, gotta have it ASAP.

You can pre-order Collector's Gift Set from Walmart.com. They might have it in stores.Matt wrote:I hope walmart has the gift set. I want to buy it there! They are normally cheap with the gift sets but than BJ's Whole Sale Club by my house has it cheaper as well!
Visit your local Wal-Mart Photo Center on October 11th to get a complimentary photo taken with a life-size cutout of characters from The Lion King.
I was expect around 100 pages, but 160 is damn good. Can't wait to read it.Woody wrote:Update: Received the Gift set this morning - not bad - 3 business days from Canada to UK!! To answer a question on another post about the book - it's got 160 pages. Please, no interuptions for the next 5 hours.........
Enjoy your early-arrival of the box-set! Make sure to give us your input on the DVD after watching it.
That's awesome. If I was patient, I would have just ordered from Amazon, but they've been taking longer and longer to ship lately.
The negative side is that BestBuy is going to have the Gift Set priced very unattractively at $39.99 (well over double the price of just the Platinum release which is $15.99). Plus there's a free calendar and mousepad for Lion King, but I doubt you get those if you get the Gift Set. Ugh. If it got the same kind of discount the Platinum got, it'd be under $30. Maybe some store will be wise and undercut the competition. Circuit City, please?
And I'd love a Lion King calendar, too, but I imagine it would be cheap like my Back to the Future wristwatch from Best Buy.

Although Best Buy lists $39.99 as the price on their site now, they usually lower it by the week it comes out. And I'd bet you can get the free stuff with the gift set too - at least at my local Best Buy they aren't strict with that type of stuff.Luke wrote:That's awesome. Yay!
I just checked Amazon and I'm told "We are preparing these items for shipment and this portion of your order cannot be canceled or changed".
So mine should be posted in the next day or so (a week ahead of schedule!).
Very cool - and here I thought everyone was getting theirs way before me...

You'd think that, but I'm told that's what it is listed at in next week's circular.Jack wrote:Although Best Buy lists $39.99 as the price on their site now, they usually lower it by the week it comes out. Circuit City will probably have it a few bucks cheaper (hopefully
