In Search of the Castaways soon in R2 (Germany)

Post by Carlo »

In November and December there will be a few titles in R2 (Germany) that haven't been available in R1 yet, or in foolscreen, or only on Anchor Bay.

Among these are:

So Dear to my Heart (Ein Champion zum Verlieben)

In Search of the Castaways (Die Abenteuer des Kapitän Grant)
http://www.amazon.de/exec/obidos/ASIN/B ... imaguid-21

The Island at the Top of the World (Insel am Ende der Welt)
http://www.amazon.de/exec/obidos/ASIN/B ... imaguid-21

The Last Flight of Noah's Ark (Bruchlandung im Paradies)
http://www.amazon.de/exec/obidos/ASIN/B ... imaguid-21

First Kid (Mr. Präsident Junior) (apparently in widescreen!)
http://www.amazon.de/exec/obidos/ASIN/B ... imaguid-21

Oliver Twist (Oliver Twist)
http://www.amazon.de/exec/obidos/ASIN/B ... imaguid-21

RocketMan (Spaceman) (apparently in widescreen!)

Nice. Thanks for posting. First Kid should be widescreen in Australia too I imagine. (But what's the deal with it being rated "M" there? I guess they're strict about brief bare behinds.)

Eh? I always thought it was America that was anal about bare behinds (pardon the pun).

Remember all that fuss over NYPD Blue? I doubt it would have caused an eyelid to flutter in the UK or Australia.
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

We don't have a problem with naked behinds...in fact it is a proud Aussie tradition. :D

According to the cover art posted on Atlantic and the OFLC, the M is for 'Low Level Violence'.

Oh, right, that's when the crazy guy on the computer opens fire on the 12-year-old boy in a public mall.

DVD+ Product Search is a great new feature! Thanks, Luke.

By the way: Was In Search of the Castaways originally in 4:3 (fullscreen)?

It's probably open-matte from 1.75:1, I'd guess. Shame they can't just frame it right in a 16x9 transfer.

Glad you like the feature, but credit for its conception and programming go to James Reader (2099net). I just helped out entering stuff. :)
