If you were to reinvent Disneyland, how would you do so?

Post by Wonderlicious »

If a new Disneyland resort was being built, and you were asked to reinvent the little areas for the main park (Fantasyland, Frontierland etc) in some way or to some extent, how would you?

I'll have a go (a lot of it has been pinched from DLP)...

Main Street USA
This would be pretty much the same as it is in other parks, only with a Lady and the Tramp themed passage way (where one sees little dioramas of the film) included.

Frontierland
Like in Disneyland Paris, this would swap places with Adventureland, so the Americana areas are closer together. In this place, the main storyline is that a mysterious house (the Haunted Mansion) has infected a Wild West town, causing it to stay situated in time and be infected by villains (all the villains in costume walk around here). The Big Thunder Mountain ride is situated in the middle of a lake (like in DLP), and the storyline behind that is that the ghouls have infected the trains to make it all wayward. One area hasn't been infected, however, in that is a little peaceful woody place where a Voyage of the Little Mermaid style show is, only being themed to Pocahontas.

Adventureland
The little woody place soon dissolves into a jungle island area, where one finds themselves in Adventureland. This is mainly themed as an "on location" location for a Disney action movie, with pieces of camera equipment scattered throughout the jungle. The jungle contains the Swiss Family Treehouse and below that is an invading pirate ship (which has a play area on it, of course. Animatronics of animals (including Jungle Book characters) also appear throughout the island, which can be exitted via a number of paths and bridges. On land, you're inside a bustling exotic colonial island, including a number of odd buildings including a magic carpet store that is actually a magical dark ride to Agrabah. In the top corner, you'll also two attractions that "take you back to adventure classics"; Peter Pan's Flight (gasp, it moved land!) and Pirates of the Carribean (this was originally a ride, but since the popularity of the movie...).

Fantasyland
Instead of a Cinderella castle or Sleeping Beauty castle, a Beauty and the Beast castle is found at this park. The interior of the castle features a stained glass window gallery and a coridor that leads to the West Wing (complete with animatronic Beast). Underneath the castle, one encounters a replica of Belle's village (with a Disney Princess carousel thrown in). You'll see the main sights from the village in the movie; the fountain, a restaurant like Gaston's tavern, market stalls and a little shop selling books. Inside two of the buildings, you'll see two of what are dubbed Maurice's inventions; dark ride attractions for Snow White and Pinocchio. Beyond the village, you'll discover what is named the "great wide somewhere" of flamboyant fantasy, containing the stereotypical It's a small world, Dumbo and Mad Hatter's Tea Party rides. There's also the previously Disneyland exclusive Alice in Wonderland dark ride (this time with two tracks and added scenes :D), as well as an area in the corner nearest to Adventureland (the top left) themed to fantasy under the sea, including a Beautiful Briny Ballroom (from Bedknobs and Broomsticks) walkthrough showcase and a dark ride for The Little Mermaid (much like the deleted one ;) ), which is housed in a building similar to those of the Adventureland ones so to blend the lands together.

Chip n' Dale's Woodland
Instead of a Toon Town, we are given a Chip n' Dale's Woodland found through a White Rabbit hole style tunnel near the tea cup area in Fantasyland and under the railroad that circles the park. Here, there are meet and greets with Mickey and the gang, and characters from Robin Hood, Winnie the Pooh, Song of the South and Brother Bear. The Pooh dark ride appears, as does a Chip n' Dale tree house and Splash Mountain.

Discoveryland
I've given Tomorrowland the name of the Tomorrowland in DLP, as that name suits the name of this reinvented land better. This place highlights the past visions of the future along with the discovery stories found within the sci-fi Disney films of recent. In a Treasure Planet/Atlantis/Jules Verne style village and bay, you'll see Space Mountain (more like the one found in DLP, surprise surprise ;) ) that shoots you to the moon. Another attempt is made with Orbitron (imagine Dumbo, but with Jules Verne style rockets instead of elephants.) Beyond Space Mountain, you'll discover the world of sci-fi discovery in cinema; with the 3D sci-fi theater, Star Tours and a Stitch attraction.

I should also add that each land should get a mascot, who is a classic Disney animated character. Here are the mascots:

Main Street: Tramp
Frontierland: Alameda Slim
Adventureland: Peter Pan
Fantasyland: Belle
Woodland: Chip n' Dale
Discoveryland: Jim Hawkins

Wow, I need to get a life...I've gone and created a non existant theme park. Hopefully others will do so not to make me look so nerdy.

:p to your joke and :( for the dogs.

I guess that Lady could actually also be an invented mascot, but she seems a bit too "in the garden" and not "on the streets" like Tramp, so that's a bit of a clash.
