Pete's Dragon Laser Disc?

Post by AwallaceUNC »

I didn't find the info in a search, even though I thought I remembered reading it before, so I'll ask here... does anyone have the Pete's Dragon laser disc? If so, could you list its contents? I'd like to know for Bedknobs too. Thanks.

Although I don't own either one on laserdisc, I remember what they both contained after looking at scans of the back covers posted online (the site that hosted them no longer exists, so I can't just post the pics here). For Pete's Dragon, it's easy: there was nothing. Really. It was a barebones release. For Bedknobs and Broomsticks, there was only the "Step in the Right Direction" stills recreation and four trailers, all of which appear on the DVD. Disney's going to have to make materials from scratch if they ever decide to make 2-Disc SE's of these two films, especially Pete's Dragon.

Thanks, DK. I hope that isn't keeping them away from moving forward with Special Editions.

In related news (I've been meaning to post this), when I was in WDW last week, I saw and heard more Pete's Dragon than I ever have there before - and believe me, I'm always on the lookout. I wonder if it's just coincidence, or if they are trying to stir people's memories a bit in preparation for a re-release?

You know, I think that a rerelease of some sort may be coming soon. A lot of the Pete's Dragon discs have been in sales and promotions this Summer in England, so I think that they're obviously trying to get rid of the unpurchased copies of Pete's Dragon lying around...

I once read that an Archive Laserdisc was planned for Bedknobs and Broomsticks before the line was discontinued, so maybe there are a few things that were completed for the disc, and they could go on the set...
