Anyone else seen Buffy the Vampire Slayer the movie?

Post by Gregorian Chant »

Has anyone else seen Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1992) with Kristy Swanson and Luke Perry?

I thought it was goofy and fun in a campy sort of way. Plus, it has Hilary Swank, 2-time Oscar winner.
Buffy: We have a marching jazz band?
Oz: Yeah, but, you know, since the best jazz is improvisational, we'd be going off in all directions, banging into floats... scary.

Yup seen it many times and I like it. I will eventually buy it when I see it for dirt cheap but right now I'm holding off since it's on TV all the time.

I enjoy the TV series so much more though but the movie has Donald Sutherland and he's a great actor so it has that going for it which the show doesn't have.

Sadly we won't see Sarah Michelle Gellar return to the role of Buffy in a movie. I read a news article today on Yahoo! that says her vampire slaying days are over but I would still love to see a movie set int hat universe with Spike, Angel and Faith as the main slayer. :)

I think I paid $12.99for mine, but I saw it at Blockbuster for $9.99. I don't suppose there will ever be a 2-disc version of that one. It would be cool to see bloopers from that movie.

Yeah, I saw it also a few times.

Good movie.

I also think it is to bad that Sarah Michelle Gellar won't be returning to the role of Buffy anytime soon. She was awesome in that role.

Yeah, I have.

What I was wondering when I saw it was whether or not the series was based on the movie..because they seem reeeally different.

I saw it a few times. When it first came out and then when I got into the series. Joss Whedon's vision was slayed to make that movie. There is a comic book out with the actual storyline and much of the original script that Joss intended the movie to be. They chopped up his sense of humour and character arcs. It was too bad too. I was surprised when I first heard they were making a Buffy series. After seeing the movie the first time, my question was "Why?". The movie bombed and it wasn't all that good, IMO. I finally got into the series while season 4 was going. I couldn't believe how much better the series was to the movie. And then I found out about how they tossed all Joss' hard work out the door and made it so cheezy. It's a shock Joss was able to get the series to sell with a movie like that. Glad he didn't give up though :D

I saw it once and I prefer Sarah Michelle Gellar.
Hey, orestes. I think I saw the movie in the $5.50 Bin at Wal-Mart, but that wouldn't help you since you're in Canada...

The movie is definitely not Oscar-caliber, but it has some good one-liners in it, such as "You ruined my new jacket . . . kill him a lot!" and "Why do I need to know about El Salvador? Like I'm ever going to Spain anyway!" and so on. Plus, you can catch Ben Affleck and Ricki Lake in very small bit roles.

My Disney collection thus far:

It could. :) I'll check the Wal-Mart bargain bins here. IT won't be that cheap but it'll probably be under $10.

By the way, could someone explain me the end of the serie?
I mean, I know that all the wannna-be slayers and Buffy went to the...hell or something, they fought with those ancient vampires, and that the white-hair vampire release some power and discover that Angel wans´t the champion but him and we see all the light show and then a big hole, at the end Buffy and the crew in some old Van going away

The TV show had some okay moments, but the movie is SO much better. Anyone who says differently is a loser who can't get over the fact that the show is just not great.

OLD THREAD ALERT!!!

I actually love the movie...

Buffy was much more of the "80s typical suburban teen valley girl" in the movie, Donald Sutherland was great, and Paul Reubens was hilarious!

I'm a HUGE BTVS and Angel fan, and it all comes from this. Thanks, Joss Whedon! :D

Actually, though, I haven't seen this movie in years. As soon as I have money to get the entire series, I'm definitely picking this up along with it. Sort of like a never before seen pilot. Even though they do discuss the events of the movie several times during the series. :p

Chris, I was just in Wal Mart, and they have the movie for about $6. I almost picked it up, but something else caught my eye.

I've seen this a few times because my brother used to have a crush on Buffy, and watched this a million times. (Why he chose to watch this instead of the TV show still boggles my mind.)
