"Mickey's Christmas Carol"...I'm Slightly Peeved.
"Mickey's Christmas Carol"...I'm Slightly Peeved.
Is anyone else the teensiest bit peeved about Disney's "double-dip" of Mickey's Christmas Carol?
Maybe I'm just really cheap...appropriate when talking about the Scrooge story, I guess. But I'm willing to admit upfront that I purchased that "Snowed In At The House of Mouse" deally ONLY to get "Mickey's Christmas Carol." The U.S. nets have stopped running it and it's one of my favorite holiday films. So I didn't feel too silly popping for the "Mickey" DVD last Christmas...
Now, I come to find out that the complete "Carol" (with credits, even) will be part of the MMILC2 Treasures set. If I had known that, I could have waited one more Christmas and avoided purchasing a disc that, aside from "Carol", doesn't do a heck of a lot for me.
I'm sure I'm the only person who feels like this. Just felt like saying so. It cleanses the soul...or something like that.[/i]

we're a little late, folks...goodnight!
This was rumored even before the House Of Mouse disc came out. Many of us, including myself, have avoided it for that very reason. I'd understand your position if perhaps, the situation was flipped and it was being released exclusively to the HOM dvd which I would be relustant to purchase, as I'm sure many others would be too. But the inclusion of this feature on the upcoming MILC set is extremely exciting news. It's also something that should have been expected considering the context of these sets. Sell your dvd on Ebay and put it towards the Treasure.
I am glad that they are using their older material in anyway that they can sell it to the general public. I personaly bought the House of Mouse Christmas DVD the day it came out and truly enjoyed it. And now as the MMILC2 is coming out I can't wait to get it on that as well because it definatley belongs in the Complete Mickey Mouse Collection. Plus it will be nice to have it with all the credits. I think that the House of Mouse set helps it to appeal to a younger audience and it was not a limited release like the Treasure sets are.
P.s. Luke you said "Aside from "Carol", I don't know how much MMiLC2 will float my boat."
Are you not a fan of the older disney animated shorts?

That's right. Not enough a fan to re-watch them anyway. Most of them are fairly entertaining in passing, but I find the ones I've seen really dated. Of course, a shortage of money helps me assure myself that's the way I feel.Papa Bear wrote:P.s. Luke you said "Aside from "Carol", I don't know how much MMiLC2 will float my boat."

Yeah, but what are you going to do.doctorjpw wrote:Is anyone else the teensiest bit peeved about Disney's "double-dip" of Mickey's Christmas Carol?
When the House of Mouse DVD came out, everyone said 'Why can't there be a more complete set?'. And there is this year.
Plus you get stuff on the HoM disc that isn't on the Treasures - like the HoM pilot.
In a perfect world, Disney wouldn't be seeking to make money. But they are, and we would be just as peeved if Carol had been left OFF the Treasures 'because it was already on DVD'. I mean, some people here were upset that Beanstalk was being left off Treasure (which we now know it isn't), despite it being available on another disc (with added Bongo!).
So, you can either get upset over Disney's double-dipping, or be glad they have finally got it right and put out a fairly comprehensive set (which as I keep saying, is always going to be someone's first set). Personally, I am in the latter category and am glad they are including everything possible on this set.

I cannot wait to get this DVD! I hope it will have all the Mickey Mouse Shorts that I want!
However I did miss the first MMILCV1!
I did not buy that when it came out! I also missed out on Davy DVD!
My dad really enjoyed that and I wanted to pick them up before there are no more left! Where can I get both for really cheap?

I believe STASH hit this one right on the head. What you have to do, is sell your HOM dvd, if you really don't care for it, and put the money towards the upcoming treasure.
Personally I think it is great that Christmas Carol is on the upcoming treasure. I fell that since it is MMILC2 it should have ALL of Mickey's remaining color cartoons, and it seems to so YEAY!
.
Last year right about this time I was able to get MMILC1 for $26 (that's including shipping, I believe) off ebay, man am I happy now, I can't believe how much it is going for now!
I absolutely love that set! It is what inspired me to get the other 2 sets that I now own, Silly Symphonies and MMBW, and come this Dec. I plan on adding 3 more to my collection.
Luke, have you ever thought of having kids? Cause even if you personally find these out of date or whatever, your kids will love them! I grew up with a few tapes of Mickey and Co. cartoons, and I carry that love for them on to this day. Now I don't know if you sold your MMILC, I remember you were talking about selling it a few months ago, but I would keep it, cause these are suppose to be limited issue, and you never know... somewhere down the line, you might have a few tots of your own, and by then, these treasures might be impossible to find. Just a thought
