Pit Pony Movie

Post by 2099net »

I think this was a Disney film. It was set in England sometime between the 1880's and, perhaps as late as the 1940's. Some kids befriended some pit ponies (Horses that would work in a mine, pulling carts of coal etc). They then found out the mine was to close(?) and the horses were going to be killed. So the kids set out to rescue the horses.

Does this ring a bell with anyone? It was probably made in the late 60's or early 70's?

"The Littlest Horse Theives"

Post by Papa Bear »

"The Littlest Horse Theives" was made in 1977 and has been released on DVD by Anchor Bay in the region one format. I thought this was a real cute show. But my Disc that I got from Anchor bay had a lot of gliches through out the widescreen side but the full frame side was not bad.

There was also a film set in Australia called Ride a Wild Pony which according to the Leonard Maltin's The Disney Films can be summed up as:
"In Australia, a poor farm boy and a crippled rich girl vie for the love and ownership of a pony"

Sounds like my kind of film.

Probably not the one you are thinking of, but it was a film about ponies and set in Australia so I felt honour bound to comment. :P

Hi 2099;
I have a brand new sealed dvd of " The littlest horse Thieves" Im more than happy to send it to you for free. It really is a little classic. Nice to see Prunella Scales (Fawlty Towers) in a supporting role. Both Ride a Wild Pony and The littlest horse thieves were penned by Rosemary Anne Sisson and they are both charming films. So if you want it let me know and Ill send it to you asap it has both widescreen and full frame formats even though it states only fullframe on the cover. As to how I got two of them ...long story... But Id love the spare to go to a good home!!!
