Batman Begins - As Mary Poppins says, practically perfect in every way. The Dark Knight lives! 10/10

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire - Where to begin? So much positive feedback from me. Stunning visuals and cinematography, great effects, awesom story and the best acting yet from the actors! The final scene with Harry completing the task was emotional beyond words. He really pulled it off. This blows the socks off I and II, and is on par with III. My only beef would be the skipping from scene to scene. The pacing was totally off in some moments. Second best movie of the year, only behind Batman Begins. 9.8/10

King Kong - I was very cynical towards the trailers and said it looked dumb, but I can admit when I'm mistaken. :D The film was awesome, special effects were amazing and the final act was tragic. However, much of the opening act was much too long, and some island scenes were also not neccessary at all. It seems as though Jackson's love for the movie stopped this movie from running a smooth course, and as a result hurts an overall wonderful film. I recommed this to anyone who like stories with heart. 9.5/10

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - Genius is a word that would describe this movie in short. :) Jonny Depp is great as usual, Tim Burton delivers a stylized and funny film! And the Ompa songs steal the show! One of the best movies of the year! 9.5/10

War of the Worlds - Never have I been so scared while watching a movie. Spielberg really defines fear in a new way. 9.5/10

Star Wars Episode III - I love the new trilogy, despite some horrible dialouge and acting. Story was very engaging and tragic. 9/10

Closer - This movie is beautiful. Acting is great, and the story is a fresh change from the usual romance stories. Just barely ranks under Revenge of the Sith. 8.5/10

Tim Burton's "The Corpse Bride" - Fun fun and more fun! I enjoyed this from beginning to end. Songs and score were terrific, and the atmosphere achieved was amazing! I found the story to stretch a bit thin near the middle but it quickly picked up speed from there! Terrific characters, and a great cast of voices. Jonny Depp is great! Overall 8/10! Great fun, but I'm not sure how it'll hold with repeat viewings...

Million Dollar Baby - Although the theme of Rocky is recycled here, this movie does it the best. Negative was it was too slow at parts. 8/10

Sin City - This one sure is a mixed bag for me. On the one hand photography is beautiful. Acting, dialogue, stunts, atmosphere. All amazing. I was blown away at times. But then comes the storyline. I could not see what the hell was so original about it! Nothing about the story was unique. In fact, the first and second stories were also entirely unbelievable. Who goes out on a killing fest for a girl he hardly knows / a girl he doesn't even love. The third story was great though. Overall, 8/10 for pure originality.

Phantom of the Opera - I love musicals, and this is no exception. Some plot points are confusing, but overall this movie delivers great enterainment, and a great love story. 7.5/10

Crash - Well, I am disappointed. There were too many stories going on at once, leading me to not care about any of them. Strong points are this director actually got Sandra to act good for a change (same goes for Brandon)! Overall, only so-so.... I give it credit for effort, good acting and nice dialouge. 7/10

Robots - While an enjoyable flick, and far beyond the likes of stupid toilet jokes, it's really nothing special. Aside from a few chuckles, I found myself quite bored seeing the same routines over and over again. Overall, a harmless viewing, but nothing to write home about. 7/10

The Island - Not bad, but nothing good either. I went out of the movie feeling a sence of deja vu. Been there, done that, only with better acting. I had a fun 2 hours, but it ends with that. 6/10

The 40-Year-Old Virgin - What's all the hype about? Just another lame comedy... 'Nuff said. 5/10

Fantastic 4 - Ranks right up there with Electra and Catwoman... 4/10

Movies I am anxious to see. The lower the ranking, the less it's likely for me to catch it in theatres:

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe - *****
Mr. And Mrs. Smith - ****
Munich - ***

1.) Howl's Moving Castle
2.) Nobody Knows
3.) Bride and Prejudice
4.) Batman Begins
5.) Crash
6.) Fever Pitch
7.) The Interpreter
8.) Madagascar
9.) Robots
10.) The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants
11.) Beauty Shop
12.) Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous
13.) Diary of a Mad Black Woman
14.) Star Wars Episode III: The Return of the Sith
15.) Monster-In-Law
16.) Be Cool
17.) The Pacifier

Movies I expect to probably make an impact on my cinematic consciousness this year are:

Memoirs of a Geisha - If you haven't read the fabulous novel by Arthur Golden, read it! Absoultely gorgeous! Rob Marshall is a talented director, so hopefully this will do great. Did I mention the fabulous Ziyi Zhang, Gong Li, and Michelle Yeoh are starring? Excellent!

The New World - I love the story of Pocohontas! Again, Terrance Malick is a talented director. Hopefully he'll deliver the goods.

Pride and Prejudice - It's about time they came up with an "official" big screen adaptation of this Jane Austen classic. (No, the musical interpretation I've been raving about doesn't count, no matter how much I love Bride & Prejudice.) For some reason, not a lot of Oscar prognosticators are prediction this to hit big on Oscar night. It will either be a huge nominations sweeper like Sense & Sensibility, or a light thud in the water, like Emma.

The Corpse Bride - I guess I'm one of the few people who don't hold The Nightmare Before Christmas in complete reverance. Oh, well, this is Tim's second shot at stop-motion greatness, and he better have improved!

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe - I will remain sceptable. The previews look hokey in my opinion. Unless big-budgest literary fantasies are up to Peter Jackson standards, I don't fawn over them just because they are sentimental kid's favorites.
The Top 10 Films of 2005:
1) Brokeback Mountain 2) The Squid and the Whale 3) Me And You And Everyone We Know 4) The New World 5) A History of Violence 6) Match Point 7) Munich 8.) Crash 9) Wallace and Gromit 10) Pride & Prejudice

Wrong! You forgot that Tim Burton produced "James and the Giant Peach".

Anyway I've now seen much more films:

1. Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith: A great sci-fi movie that's done perfectly. It's without a doubt, the best movie of the year(yes, including Batman Begins). 10/10

2. Batman Begins: A superhero movie at its very best. Terrific performances from Liam Neeson and Christian Bale! 9/10

3. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory: While I don't particularly love the story as much as others, I still really enjoyed this movie. Tim Burton did a great job of adapting the original story and making it into a 1 hour and 40 minute movie. The performances are done well, and unlike the original movie, the songs were cool! Johnny Depp was weird though! :D 8/10

4. Fantastic Four: By no means as good as X-Men or Spider-Man, but I still had a fun time. 8/10

5. March of the Penguins: A nice documentary about what penguins do in a whole year. The film was really well made. I felt cold just watching it! 7/10

6. Robots: Not as good as Pixar or Ice Age, it's still better than the majority of what Dreamworks has done. The animation was sweet, and the gags were great. A fun movie! 7/10

7. The Pacifier: Disney hasn't been releasing anything great currently this past year, but I still liked this film. Nothing extrodanary but it had some good performances and some nice twists! Gary stole the show however! :D 7/10

8. Hitch: Errr, it's overrated! Will Smith wasn't doing anything extrodanary and the scripts was just averege. A few laughs here and there, it really wasn't a great movie as most people said it was! 5/10

9. Sky High: Boring!!! It felt like a lame copy-cat of "The Incredibles" most of the time. Plus it was sooooooo predictable. 5/10

10. Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous: It was okay. I never saw the original, but I picked up the story really fast. Overall it was just like Hitch, a few laughs here and there, nothing extrodanary! 5/10

11. White Noise: BOOOOOOOOOOOO! This is one of the worst films I have ever seen in my life. I've seen better CGI from a Super-Nintendo! 0/10

Among the best movies of the year this year has been Star Wars III Revenge of the Sith and Batman Begins.

This month (August 2005) my most favorite movie has been March of the Penguins. I have seen this film four times already and can't wait for the release on DVD. This is a remarkable documentary, and if you haven't seen it yet, do make time and see it. Morgan Freeman's narration is top notch and the film is very touching and funny at the same time. You will learn more about Penguins than you ever imagined.

The worst movie of this or any year has to be Raise Your Voice, but then you have to understand it has Hilary Duff and I am tired of Disney trying to foist this no-talent person on us as an actress or a singer. She and her sister are two of the biggest flops to appear on stage in Kansas. They lip-synched part of their show and didn't apologize for it. Of course, if you are under thirteen you probably won't agree with this opinion.

The only way to watch movies - Original Aspect Ratio!!!!
I LOVE my Blu-Ray Disc Player!
