Does Anyone Think Pirates Of The Carribbean 2 wont do well??

The First Pirates Of The Carribbean Is One Of My Favorite Films. I watch it all the time. But when the sequel comes out next year it will be the second Weekend Of Superman. Does Anyone Think that might stop Pirates of doing well?? I think It Might because Superman is one of the most known chracters and he is known around the world. I also think that the first Pirate Film was a craze. Does anyone think this film will make less than the first like harry potter?? I think they Should Move The release date To Around August or December of that year.. What do you guys think??

Of course more people will watch Superman over Pirates Of The Carribbean 2. Superman is more popular and more exciting then PotC 2.

Personally, I'm not worried for Pirates. Yes, I do believe Superman will gross much more. I predict it'll be the Spider-Man of 2006, but I still think Pirates is popular enough with our pop culture to at least gross $200 million. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if this film makes more than the original (it may not happen, but it could) since a lot of people I know who love the film didn't see it until it hit DVD.

I really doubt that the release of Superman two weeks before Pirates will affect its turnout. I thought that War of the Worlds was going to make Fantastic Four have a bad turnout but it did very well. I think by the time that Pirates is released everyone who wanted to see Superman will already have seen it and be ready to see Pirates. As for the second Pirates doing worse than the first movie: I'm not sure. I could see it going both ways. A lot of people liked the first movie and it got a lot of exposure so that could help it. I think it all depends on how good this one is compared to the other. Because face it, sequels are always compared to the original. I think the release date is fine, too. If it were released in August then they only get large amounts of audiences on the weekends whereas during the summer kids go to the movies throughout the entire week.

Superman will prove to be some healthy competition next year, but that won't stop Pirates from succeeding. The first one did great in the box office and I don't see the sequel doing much worse.

POTC II better not suck or... I don't know what I'll do so it better not suck.

I doubt it, I mean the first one was really good but Disney in my oppionion has had a bad reputation on most of their sequels.

I'd say that PotC has a strong and loyal following. Many people are avidly waiting for the sequel, including myself. I'm not worried. And the premise sounds promising so far.

According to imdb, there is a PotC 3 being produced and is scheduled for release in 2007.

I can't see how Superman will do well without Christopher Reeves. Isn't it called Superman Returns and I just checked imdb and Superman Returns is being filmed in Australia.

I doubt Superman will hold it back as much as to make it fail at the box office. I have great confidence in a Pirates sequel, and I believe it'll be better than the first!

I mean, even when Superman is one of the most famous superheroes, a crappy movie will definately kill the man of Krypton.

I don't really think one will take from the other... Both will probably be must-sees for most fans.

Did the LOTR trilogy really compete with the new Star Wars Trilogy? Personally, I think these films (along with Spider-Man and Harry Potter) would have had the same ticket sales even if there weren't other big films at the same time. However, it could be highly likely that other films not mentioned might have done better, if these films weren't out.

Superman Has a Release Date For June 30th So That Means 4th of July Week

And Pirates 2 is gona be released on July 7th

I Just Think That POTC2 should be released a little latter

Also The Box Office has been down this year.. so that can be the same case for next year... so if ppl are gonna only go to the movies like once in the summer they will likely see Superman.

Also People Who Saw Piartes Might Like Superman more and Might Go See Supes Instead.

Here Are Some Ways Of Looking At It

- This Will Likely Be Bigger Than Spider-man because superman is known everywhere
- Spidey 1 grossed 115 in its first weekend then 70 in its second

Piartes grossed 50 million over the week but was released on a Wedensday and it added its 5 day total to 70million

Spidey 2 was released on 4th of July Weekend and it made about 180million all together.. in its 2nd weekend it made around 45 million

Heres How I look at it
- There Are Fans both of Piartes 1 and Superman but they would pobblay see Superman first

For Piartes to Be Number 1 Opening Weekend Heres what needs to happen to the new Superman Movie
- On 4th Of July Week It Should Try To make around 150-220million
- Then It made half of Its Box Office Totaol So It Should Have a second weekend around 45million

So If That happens Pirates Should Be Fine If Not It may have competition

I Kno That Supes Will Make more $$ neway but I hope thatPiartes is 1 openin weekend

It should be close, but I doubt that Pirates will make 250- because of Superman, Im guessing SMR to make 350 mil. and PotC 2 to make 300+. I'd rather see PotC 2 before SMR. And PotC2 is written and direced by the same people as the first, it's likely to be like Potter as far as sequel quality goes.

I Do Kindof Agree... But I just look at it Like The First Spiderman Film.. People Thought That that film wouldnt do that great because noone really talked about it.

Same With Batman really his popularity kindof ended a year later after his film... sure Batman Begins made only 170million sofar but he was never around as popular as Superman.

As For Me I Dont Really Like Superman... I Never really did.. I just found him well boring.. same story over an over with him.... and I do agree with you that no one really talks about him but no one really talked about spidey either around 99.
