We'll only have 125,000 tins this year, like last year... I was hoping we would get at lest 150,000. Oh well....

Yes, that's the 1995 short of the set. It was released in front of A Kid in King Arthur's Court.

I wasn't that concerned about getting it, but now that I've seen the specs list, I think I actually may pick this one up. Of course, if I do that then that means the completist in me will want to buy Living Color Volume 1, also.

I can't believe we are only getting 125,000 tins again this year. Disney are virtually throwing money away by not making more. Most un-Disney like.

Disney has stock in eBay?

And eBay gets a cut of every tin sold. So the fewer tins, the bigger the eBay prices, and Disney is not throwing money away.
Ok, I said it was a working theory.

I agree though. I think these are things that should be widely available, for preservation and longevity, otherwise what is the point of releasing them on DVD? That's just my opinion anyways.

I have mine on order, and they are sure to go quickly (given the smaller number and the eBay prices of previous years).

I mean, unless Disney DOES have stock in eBay, they can't be happy with those prices on the secondary market. Surely they would release more to kill that.

I was just about to say a very similar thing.

I think it is very possible, or maybe the have agents that will go out and buy up a bunch of tins, or just not release them to the public and then sell them on ebay....

Also They could make more than they say, and have 2 003245 of 125000 and who would really know the difference, and they could be selling them on ebay, or through other means to collectors for high dollars!!!

I agree TOTALLY! I have been looking for this cartoon for so long! I remember watching this short as a kid and loving it! I just wish they would add it to the collection!

Maybe Mickey Mouse Living Color Vol. 3 next year?

Actually it looks like it will be on the set, I don't know if they added it, or it was just there all along and I was miss informed by the people I talked too, I sure hope the website isn't wrong. But I think it's a safe bet now, that it will be included!!!

Can we assume that this version of Mickey & The Beanstalk will be without narration, unlike the "Fun & Fancy Free" mini-feature?

I don't know, I was wandering that too.

When I had my copy on video, that was just Mickey and the Beanstalk, it did include the narration by Proff. Van Drake. He was telling the story to a little bug called Herman.

I don't know if this is how it was shone in Fun and Fancy Free or if this is how it will appear on the tin, this is just what I remeber from the mini classic tape that I had. I believe Cristmas Carol was part of the same series.

No, Fun and Fancy Free is narrated by Edgar Bergen (father of Murphy Brown's own Candice Bergen!) who was a ventriloquist (but not a very good one based on Fun and Fancy Free!) - so his narration included himself and two of his dummies, narrating to a girl (Laura Patten of Song of the South/So Dear To My Heart fame).

Though possible, depending on the ethics of a particular company, it is also quite illegal.
Those kind of companies aren't allowed to play secondary markets like that.
That's why Marvel Comics and Time Warner don't have retail stores selling back issues of X-men and Batman.

They can have an across-the-board price change for new productions and that's it.

They were reletivley easy to find the first week(s) but I would not daly with buying them, that's why I plan to get them the first day, so I don't have to worry about not finding them.

That was cynical anti-corporate Loomis that posted, not the cute and fluffy one

But it still baffles me why Disney produces so few. I mean, they can't be happy with secondary market prices (and the potential for bootleggers, which I suppose isn't as much of an issue with the tins, but still possible).

This raises a very interesting question. Will they use the original version as seen on Fun and Fancy Free with Edgar Bergen and Luanna Patten or the one narrated by Von Drake to his beetle frienf Herman as shown on the Wonderful World Of Color TV show. We know that Maltin is a big fan of the t.v. shows, hence the less populer Disneyland Treasures and Behind the Scenes Set. Which one will he, or those who are compiling them with him choose?

I am really hoping it's the Von Drake version, though I do recall watching a variation of this as a kid in which I don't remember any narration being presented. Maybe my memory is slightly jaded though...

I hope they use the tv show version since we already have Fun & Fancy Free on DVD, no need repeating the same exact version. When I got that DVD, that was the first time I ever saw the Edgar Bergern version and I found it to be really strange. Also, I thought that it ended differently than it did in that version, maybe I'm wrong. Can anyone with the Von Drake version tell us how it ends?
