Windowboxing of Steamboat Willie (and others)?
Windowboxing of Steamboat Willie (and others)?
I was reading the review for the Vintage Mickey DVD, and it reminded me of a question I've had ever since the Treasures... Exactly why is "Steamboat Willie" windowboxed? I know about overscan, but that still doesn't account for just how windowboxed "Steamboat Willie" is.

The answer you seek is probably here. Tho that doesn't really justify the windowboxing of it instead of just filling the DVD's 480 pixel picture height with image and letting the short end up slightly pillarboxed. I guess they "Windowbox" those to make people not notice they're NOT in the Academy 1.375 aspect ratio and storm the castle with complaints. (Yeah, weird logic
)
