I'll never understand why people buy all the seasons of I Love Lucy or Friends because they show those shows on t.v. nonstop! I mean I could just watch a certain show nonstop and I can see all the episodes without having to pay so much money. So unless it's a show they don't show alot, than I'd save the money!
I've bought most of the seasons of Friends (I don't have them all yet because it takes time to get them) so that I can watch them when I want, in full (there are many scenes added back in), and without all those bloody commercials.

That there is the appeal in buying these shows on DVD. It's not because you can never watch them on TV. It's because you aren't chained to a TV stations schedule, and you don't have to watch 30 minutes of commercials to get through a show.

Okay, maybe you don't have all the time in the world, however, if you sit down and watch one show a day (25-55 minutes depending on the show), you'll be through a season in less than a month. It may seem like a long time, but does that really matter?

Besides, when you watch these shows on TV, it can take a lot longer than that to get through a season.

Just something to think about, I would suggest it for your favorite shows. It's the only way I'll watch older TV shows now
Cheers!

I've got every Futurama season on DVD, and I went through each one in a week, including listening to each commentary. I did skip a few of the episodes I had already seen, though.

I also have the first seasons of Rocky and Bullwinkle and In Living Color.

I am a fan of Tv shows on DVD. Whoever thought of that had a great idea. I love watching some of my favorite shows on dvd. I limit myself to only buying the shows that I really love or used to love. The tv shows are a little to expensive for me to get everything I would like to have.

Currently I have :
The 4400- Season 1
Dawson's Creek - Seasons 1-5 and the Finale
Friends - Seasons 1-9 and the Finale
Newlyweds - Season 1 (I know this is silly but I laugh and laugh when I
watch this, Season 1 is the only one I plan on having)
Saved by the Bell - Season 1 & 2 (I need 3 & 4)
The O.C. - Season 1

Shows I really really want but can't have yet :
The Wonder Years
Life Goes On

Well, my problem is that each weekday, I only have about 2 hours "me" time a day at the moment. I leave the house before 6.00am and get back just before 8.00pm. Add in general house tasks and the need for an early(ish) night, and the time soon flies by.

So currently I am finding TV on DVD to be a Godsend. It's easy to watch is small chunks, let's me catch up on something I missed or was unable to see properly the first time.

The only down side is I have a huge (and I mean huge) pile of proper films on DVD I've yet to see (I try to get through them at weekends, inbetween chatting on UD Chat!)
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

I'll bet my pile beats your pile. I currently have over 150 DVDs that I haven't yet had a chance to watch. Now grant you I've seen most of the titles in some fashion (in a theater, on TV, or on video) but I just haven't watched the dvds yet. The reason my pile has gotten so huge, is that I just can't pass up sales. Whenever I see titles on my wish list that are on sale for $7.99 or less I am compelled to go and buy them!

I love collecting t.v. shows on dvd because you can watch them anytime you want to. Plus we don't suscribe to cable, so they are good to have around. Right now I am into collecting the Simpsons. I never get bored of that show.
