Buffy vs. Angel

Post by Prince Phillip »

I never liked Buffy, never got into it, until My mom got into it a couple years ago. She saw the season 5 season ender, and got hooked, so naturally she started watching at the beggining of Season 6. So when Buffy season 1 came out on DVD, I bought it for her, but then something unexpected happened, I got really bored one day and started watching the episodes and then season 2 came out and we bought that and I started watching those and before I knew it, I was watching the season 6 ender on TV, and waiting for season 7 to start next fall, in addition to anxiously awaiting the release of season 3 on DVD, now I await season 5, but am really siked for the release of season 6 in god knows when so that I can see the musical episode...

Well with the new liking of Buffy, naturally I would be tempted by Angel which I saw on and off this season, the off times were because Angel would often be pushed aside for college basketball, it was a local thing urg! Anyway when season 1 came out on DVD and I bought it I fell in love with the series, even more than Buffy, and I am loving this second season!!! Though I am sad cause I am almost done with it.

So any way I'm curious, for those of you that this applies to, which do you prefer? Buffy of Angel?

When Buffy was hot (the show, not the girl) it was damned good.
Season 2 can't be beat in my mind.
However, after the gang left school (Season 4 onwards), the show never 'felt right' to me.

Angel seems to have gone from strength to strength these last few seasons, with the exception of Angel falling in love with Cordi (it just isn't right...).

Angel is all we have now, so I'll say Angel. But I voted for Buffy because when it was good, nothing could beat it...

I agree with both of those statements. :) It's ashame Cordi is in an indeffinate comma now. Joss says it's because "her story is done" pshhh BS. As long as they keep writing a story for her, she'll have a story, I just think he and the actress had differences, and he is such a dictator, with no control over his own life, that he is just writing her off in such a dismal way as to show that he has the power, I believe the same was done for Doyle and Anya...

Cordi is an indefinite coma because she just had a child in real life and she said that she wants to spend more time with him. When he gets a lil older and goes to school, she may consider returning.

Doyle was never intended to be in the show forever. He was introduced for the sole purpose of giving Cordelia her demon powers. Incidently, the actor who played Doyle killed himself in real life, so he there is no chance of him returning to the show.

Maerj, Glenn Quinn is his name and he died of an accidental overdose.

Thanks, I'm a huge Buffy/Angel fan too. I knew his name but the I remembered the press reporting his death as a suicide.

Last Night I concluded what has to be one of the best seasons of Television ever!!!! Season 2 of Angel. All the reviews I read on about the season said it was, and while I didn't doubt it was good I didn't imagine that they would all be right! Man that was good! Can't wait for season 3 to come out on DVD, unfortunately I have like 7 or so months to wait :( ...

But yeay! atleast season 5 premieres next wednesday! I just hop they don't preempt it like they did all last season to show basketball games  (it was a local thing)

You'll love season 3 Phillip. Best serial Television ever made. I don't mind who quotes me on that.

Poor, poor Wesley. :headshake: My eyes are getting all moist just thinking about him.

Yeah, from what I saw of season 4 this past year, I have an idea of some of the things that are to come, but I look forward to seeing how it all unfolds. I really like Wes, I don't want anything bad to happen to him, he really is a good guy, just misunderstood at times. He is so different in Angel than he was in Buffy, he has grown a bit of a backbone, and he can kick some demon butt!

The only storyling I don't care for,, as it dosen't fit, is the love thing between Cordelia and Angel, but I will try to over look that. I also can't wait to see more of Lorn and Fred, I'm interested to see her becoming more involved with the group. Really great show!

I'm a little worried about season 5 though, I hope they continue to do the show justice.

Season 5 of Angel premieres tonight on the WB!!! (for those of you who care)

Also Spike is joining the show, and for those of you who were big Buffy fans, and never watched Angel this would be the time to join, as from what I hear they are throwing most of the show history out the window, and kinda starting new, from scratch, to be Buffy fan friendly. Might be a good time to start watching! :)

Buffy could totally beat up Angel. She has some pretty sweet moves.

Watching Angel and Buffy, the Vampire Slayer I would have to say Angel is a much more mature and adult show. Buffy isn't bad but it really went downwards when Buffy started college and her personal life.
I didn't really like the part of Dawn being her sister and the key at the same time. Too bad UPN never pick up Angel after The WB cancel the fifth season of Angel.

Buffy, all the way.

I have tried very hard to get into watching Angel. The few episodes I like from his series usually include Spike, Willow, Buffy, etc
Its funny, because normally I LOVE tragic heroes.....but Angel is just too damn tragic its depressing, lol

I did LOVE the episode when Angel was turned into a puppet...lmao

I was soooo hooked on Buffy! She is so hot and cute and she should be my girlfriend. I mean sure loads of baggage but she is so cute! Now back to reality. When I watched Buffy many years ago when I was around 16 the season 5 ending made me almost cry! I felt so empty inside! season 5 would at that time be the last season shot before they decided to add 2 more seasons. I think it is the best when she goes to uni and I love Dawn. Plus the musical episode is awsome!! I have the songs on my Ipod. I know nerd nerd....

So far, Buffy.
Angel is taking itself way too seriously, and the brooding factor gets a bit tiresome. I'll have to see how the show evolves though. Buffy Season 1 was a mess, yet by Season 2 I was hooked beyond return.
