The Digital Bits has learned that a Batman movies box set might be in the works:
Here's some interesting news... some of our sources are telling us that Warner is currently working on a box set of all four live-action Batman films, which will include a new Batman: Special Edition. The set is being timed for release to coincide with the new Batman Begins film next year.
This is great news for Batman fans I was waiting for the Special Editions of all four Batman films I believe that Warner Brothers will take it out before Summer 2005 to promote the Batman Begins movie just like what Star Wars did for episode 3.
I'm so excited because I was waiting for this moment ever since the original Batman films came out on DVD and I was disappoint so I didn't buy them.

There already is a box set, but of course Batman isn't the upcoming Special Edition. I own all 4 (not in a box set), and got them for $4 each at Wal-Mart, which was a great buy. I'll strongly consider upgrading to SEs if the content warrants it.
I think there have been reports of a box set that MIGHT have been in the works for years now, but the release of the new Batman movie would seem to be a logical time to bring it out.

I'm only interested in SE's of the Burton films, as well. I have a feeling WB is doing this box set idea because they know that if they release them all separately, sales will be poor with either of Schumacher films (especially Batman & Robin), so they're forcing people to buy all four at once. If they really do decide to do this, I hope each film will have its own Amaray case ala Indiana Jones or Star Wars, that way I can easily get rid of the last two movies and the first two would still look good on the shelf.
I'd like the '66 TV series too and the recent telemovie with Adam West and Burt Ward and the 2 b/w serials and the Bird of Prey series and give me the gasoline give me the pump I want the whole compound
Play have all four Batman films listed as SE's in October. Choices Direct have a new Batman Legacy Box listed, released on the same day, although it has no individual releases listed (and play has no boxset listed). These are all UK releases.
I'll go for that Batman Legacy set for sure. I've been waiting for a re-release for ages. I, like mostly everyone else think that 'Batman & Robin' is horrible but I find it enjoyable enough to actually buy it just because they have Mr. Freeze, although a crappy one. (I've always enjoyed the story/origins of Mr. Freeze.)
If Play.com is right, then that means we'll be getting both a boxed set of the four films as well as individual releases on the same day, which is great news. As I said earlier in this thread, I'll only be picking up the Burton movies, though I'm intrigued by Batman Forever because apparently it'll have 30 minutes of new footage inserted into it, with existing scenes having their order re-arranged. If reviews are positive enough for this cut, I may end up picking it up, though I'm avoiding Batman & Robin like the plague, no matter how much content it may have.
I'm only interested in picking up Special Editions of Batman (1989) and Batman Returns (1992). So, screw the boxset. I sometimes enjoy Batman Forever when I watch it, even though it's pretty damn cheesy, I really like Jim Carrey in it. But I don't like it enough to buy the DVD.
I *WILL NOT* purchase any of the Batman films (except Batman Begins) until there are good bonus features with Batman Forever. My favorite of the Batman films (excluding Begins).
I want features on ALL FOUR FILMS - not just the original.
Don't you worry, if these movies end up being released again, there WILL be Bonus Features. Whether they're good or not... only time will tell. Here's to hoping they devote more time to the better films, Batman '89 and Batman Returns.
