What is your favorite feature of UltimateDisney.com?

Post by Luke »

I know this is going to be difficult to just pick one, so you can use a post to list a few things. I'm just trying to figure out what are the most important priorities to updating and configuring the site.

Your feedback is appreciated.

(Sorry if I'm being a pain in the butt asking for Feedback on things, but first and foremost, I want this site to WORK for people - and in order to do that, it helps to know what people want and use. The example I've cited in the past is that the most-viewed individual page on the site is the Upcoming Releases Schedule, which didn't even exist until a few months ago when one of you recommended it. That's exactly why I value your feedback.)

I love just about everything about this site, but the Forums are what keep me coming back on a somewhat daily basis. Most of the other things that are choices are discussed (at some point) in the forums.

Oh ... and I like the plush new off-white carpet in the Feedback Forum.

as far as content that i *must* have, simply cannot live without, is the upcoming releases and checklist info. the forum, although very very interesting, and very entertaining at times, is one thing i could probably go on living without. don't get me wrong.. i'm not saying i dont want the forum, but maybe the forum would be the place to change some things, like you mentioned earlier, the avatar sizes, etc. the forum is what keeps me stopping by this website on day by day basis (ok.. i frequent this site more than once a day.. more than twice..). So, I guess what I'm getting at is... the most important things on this site (to me) are:

the upcoming releases list
all the checklists
the forum (although i'm willing to accept reduced avatar size, etc)
the dvd reviews

all of the other stuff that is on this site is info that mainly can be found elsewhere, it's just very convenient that it's all in one place

what ultimate disney mens to me

Post by nordstar »

I have been visiting this site for awhile now and have just recently started posting. This site has great people above all else. All of the sections on the site are very informative, and they keep getting better with the regulars input. My disney collection has grown to that of the almost complete-ness :D

As for the poll I would select these areas:

Forum, News Updates & Checklists

Thanks for the hard work to eveyone that has contributed to the site.
This one of my favorite sites to visit and hangout in.

While I love practically everything about this site, I think the forum is best for obvious reasons. :)

I mirror Jack's thoughts here.
The forum is what I use the most, but I also find these most useful:
- Upcoming release list
- Listings & Checklists (Animated Classics, Live Action, OOP, etc.)
- Guides (FAQs, Aspect Ratio, Release Types, etc.)
In fact, I would say that these are the only 4 things I look at (apart from the news on the front page) 99% of the time.
Behind the Panels - Comic book news, reviews and podcast
The Reel Bits - All things film
Twitter - Follow me on Twitter

I'm sorry it's come to taking things away from the site Luke. :( I would have thought increased traffic would be a good thing, well I guess it is  , but it sucks that it is effecting costs. Here are some of my ideas, about the site. Hope they help. :)

First of all, my vote was for the forum as it is the thing I use most.

Before I started using the forum, however, the thing I use to come to the site for most was the news updates, so ofcoarse those have to stay.

I think the FAQ is very informative and should be kept, as are the [check] lists, which let people know what disney movies are out there. W/O it I would never have know Fun and Fancy Free and all those package films were even part of the animated classics.

One thing I think you can scrap is the cover art section. Upcoming Cover arts are something that can be posted in the forum, which they often are, as are upcoming release lists, but I would understand if you wanted to keep those.

I think the reviews are also important, because I know, I for one have reffered to them, when trying to decide whether or not to buy a dvd, then again that is something else that can always be posted in the forum.

Anyway-- bottom line, if you have to scrap something, scrap the cover art section, as that stuff is always posted on the forum anyway. :)

Just to clarify, I don't plan on scrapping anything, at least at this point. I'm just trying to get an idea of priorities and then maybe see what I can retool for bandwidth purposes. Some of the features cover themselves, and I just want to know if anything which is time-consuming but isn't something that people care about, or something which I haven't been putting enough time into that people would like to see more of. The site is always changing, and I value all of your insight in making the site as useful and productive as possible.

Just as a suggestion Luke, I was thinking that if you were forced to scrap anything in the long run, I kind of think the Upcoming Release art is the one people least need (although I love having it). You can find the art pretty much anywhere else.

Yes...but days/weeks/months after us. ;) :D

But yeah, it does seem pretty inconsequential, even if it does bring new visitors to the site.

What you could do is if you get the art before anyone else, post it, and then after the art becomes widespread, delete it.

Yeah, or just link to Amazon's pic once they show up. I do that sometimes, but I think doing it all the time would be best. Good call, Jack.

These three:

Upcoming Cover & Disc Art
Individual DVD Preview Pages (Lion King, Nemo, etc.)
Miscellaneous (2004 Special Edition Preview, Circle of Stars Captures)

Unfortunately I couldn't vote for all three in the poll...

Luke the site is amazing! I'd say I look at these everyday:

News Updates
Forum
Listings & Checklists (Animated Classics, Live Action, OOP, etc.)
Upcoming Release Schedule
Guides (FAQs, Aspect Ratio, Release Types, etc.)

But the whole site is valuable. I don't know how far back people look at the old forum discussion topics or how much room they take up but another cut you could make is going back to some of the initial posts and start to delete or archive those....just a thought...But what a great site!!!

I like all of those things but the forum is the best. But I think the whole ultimatedisney site is awsome anyways.

Well, of course the forum. Besides that, though, I really like the individual DVD pages. I like how everything I need (cover art, specs, screencaps, etc.) is available on one page to view.

Luke,

I like everything about your site! I remember a few months ago, when i found the site-I was in heaven! Finally, a site for people other than me who collect Disney DVD's!

I most enjoy the Upcoming Releases as well as the forum.

Thanks for all you do! :)

The benefits I enjoy most are Cover/Disc Art and the forum. Of course I like everything else, but the forum is tops... As for cover/disc art, I'm only really interested in seeing cover/disc art for classic material. I just get more excited about a DVD when seeing cover art and therefore are more likely to pre-order on Amazon using Luke's links. :D

I also appreciate the reviews section, and upcoming releases....
