Tarzan ll....what's your opinion?

Post by maxeythecat »

I'm watching it as I type this, and all I can say is so far I'm VERY pleasantly surprised. The colors are lush and pretty true to the original, the animation is probably some of the best I've seen to come out of the Mouse Down Under (Disneytoons Australia) so far and the story seems to be alright...in all, I'm rather liking it. What d'you guys think?

Story is weak and so is character movement. Backgrounds are detailed beautifully just like in the original. Script is awful and the voices chosen are clearly not those from the first. Overall, disappointing, very disappointing... But animation is improving (they still can't do believable movement imo) I can see ToonStudio becoming feature animation one day!

I LOVE it. It is the best sequel (well, prequel, really) that I have seen. The animation is great, music is nice. I think that they did a great job on the movie. Love the character animation

Very true when compared to the feature animation dept (may they rest in peace) and their work, but much better than when compared to Diznee Down Under's other output...case in point ( shuuuddddddderrrr)"Cinderella ll".

Agree with you on the backrounds...as said, it compliments the original quite well. As far as the story is concerned, it's not nearly as bad as most of the other DTV junk we've been subjected to...this is also where they seem to be improving. As for the voices, well...let's just say it's no better and no worse than usual.

Surprisingly, I'm not all that disappointed in it, but I do indeed agree with you that there's a pretty good chance that Diz in Oz just might rise up to the task...hope so, anyway. As long as "Eisney" and the accountants in the grey flannel suits leave 'em the h#@ll alone and let them do what they're hired to do without interference they just might have a chance.

I thought Tarzan II was decent. I was upset when I saw the previews because they could have adapted one of the many Tarzan books into a sequel, but chose to do their own thing. Actually, I still wish they would have just done that, but their audience is kids so a film targeted around young Tarzan is obviously easier to market. Anyways, most of the voices are different, but most of the characters in this film are new anyways. Turk and Tantor have maybe 20 mins of screen time. It's a cute story with not too much point, but it's entertaining and I really like the song "Who am I" by Phil Collins. I wish they would release it on cd. Either a soundtrack or compilation. The animation was very well done. To watch this, you pretty much have to take it for what it is: A quick way for Disney to make a couple million off of a past success. It will not be remembered in 20 years.

I thought Tarzan 2 was okay, much better than Tarzan & Jane obviously. :p
It was a really cute story and fun to watch! It wasn't the best, but still good to watch (and own for us, that is). The voice was obviously a problem for me (O_o) but I got used to it. And it had a nice ending to it! (By nice, I mean that the 'love' was involved. ;))

And I agree with goofystitch that Tarzan 2 will not be remembered in 2 decades.

Well, better to find enjoyment in something than totally bash it.

Unless you find enjoyment in bashing things?

Nice review Sunset Girl. :)
Its not out here in the UK so i cant comment on wether i like it or not but it is something i will be getting as soon as it comes out. It sounds to me that it is kind of close with the standards The Lion King 3 is, but then i think TLK3 was great, so maybe i wont class it as right up there with that.

I'll come back to this thread as soon as its released over here, 8th August.
