I was the first one to get one!! My store accidentally released it a little early and I was one of the only ones to grab it before they pulled it an hour later. (but I got it at about 9AM that day, which rocked).

I love it!! Not only does it come with a companion book, but it comes with an vinyl. It's totally worth the money. :)

Just to clarify some apparent confusion in this thread, there are 4 CDs being released for the 50th Anniversary celebration. 2 are for Disneyland, 1 is for WDW, and 1 is for all the parks (but it's really all Disneyland too).

<hr>

The first is The Happiest Celebration on Earth. It's the only one of these that is currenty available from non-Disney retailers, to my knowledge. It is also the only 1-disc CD and therefore has the least on it. SRP: $18.98. Amazon : $14.99

<i>Track Listing

1. WALT DISNEY’S DEDICATION OF DISNEYLAND (:44) - Disneyland’s Dedication - July 17th, 1955
2. ALL ABOARD! (:30) - Main Street Station
3. MEET ME DOWN ON MAIN STREET (The Melomen) (1:44) - Main Street
4. ALEXANDER’S RAGTIME BAND (ROD MILLER) (2:36) - Coke Corner
5. THE TIKI, TIKI, TIKI ROOM (2:38 ) - The Enchanted Tiki Room
6. THE INDIANA JONES ADVENTURE (3:26) - Temple of the Forbidden Eye
7. TARZAN MEDLEY (2:38 ) - Tarzan’s® Treehouse
8. YO HO (A PIRATE’S LIFE FOR ME) (4:43) - The Pirates of the Caribbean
9. GRIM, GRINNING GHOSTS (5:37) - The Haunted Mansion
10. BEAR BAND SERENADE (3:15) - Country Bear Jamboree
11. SPLASH MOUNTAIN (8:09) - Splash Mountain
12. THE GREAT OUTDOORS (2:09) - Country Bear Vacation
13. THE MANY ADVENTURES OF WINNIE THE POOH (7:00) - The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
14. PECOS BILL (3:30) - Slue Foot Sue’s Golden Horseshoe Revue
15. THE RAINBOW CAVERNS (2:36) - Mine Train Through Nature’s Wonderland and The Rainbow Caverns
16. IT’S A SMALL WORLD (4:00) - It’s a Small World

18. THERE’S A GREAT BIG BEAUTIFUL TOMORROW (7:00) - Carousel of Progress
19. SPACE MOUNTAIN (2:44) - Space Mountain
20. SPACE MOUNTAIN - NEW (3:00) - Space Mountain
21. BUZZ LIGHTYEAR’S ASTRO BLASTERS (5:00) - Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters
22. REMEMBER WHEN (4:00) - LeAnn Rimes - Disneyland’s 50th Anniversary Theme Song (New)</i>

<hr>

Next is <b>The Official Album of the Disneyland Resort: The Happiest Homecoming on Earth</b>. To my knowledge, it's only available in Disney theme parks (and maybe only Disneyland). I also think you can get it from DelivEARS, and probably from Disney fan sites with stores (like Laughing Place). It is a 2-Disc set, and it has EVERYTHING from the 1-Disc CD (although "Pecos Bill" doesn't show up in the track list for some reason... unless I'm missing something... but the guy who made the CDs said nothing is missing). This is really your best value, and it isn't a Limited Edition... it's somewhere in the $20s I think. Note that even if you get the following 6-disc set, this album still has quite a bit that isn't on that set (tracks from DCA, the LeeAnn Rhymes song, and song form versions of the full-attraction tracks that are on the 6-disc set), so you'll want to get this one either way.

Track List:

<hr>

Next up is the highly coveted and exclusive 6-disc set of <b>The Musical History of Disneyland</b>, which comes in many forms, is very expensive, and is now only available at DL and WDW. All the info on this album has already been covered in this thread, though, so you can read the earlier posts.

<hr>

Moving away from Disneyland, <b>The Official Album of the Walt Disney World Resort: The Happiest Celebration on Earth</b> gives the same 2-disc set to WDW that DL got, blending the current with the historical. Likewise, I think you can only get it at WDW (and maybe DL too?). It's probably the best WDW album ever made and so very much worth picking up for even the most casual fans, even if you've already got any of the three aforementioned albums. I believe this one retails somewhere in the $20s too. However, you should know that there are already plans in the work for Disney World's next album. I don't know what the plans are for it yet, but I do know that it will be a 2-disc set as well, as will every WDW official album from this point on.

<hr>

Summary: If you just want something to commemorate DL's 50th, then the DL 2-Disc set is the way to go. If you're a die-hard fan, then you'll need to get both park's 2-disc sets <i>and</i> the 6-disc set, or at least both 2-discers. Either way, there's not much point in getting the 1-disc unless you really need to save a very few bucks.

Hope this helps those interested.

I just found that The Laughing Place is selling the The Official Album of the Disneyland Resort: The Happiest Homecoming on Earth for $44.41

Does anyone know if it really is that much at Disneyland? I hope is in the 20's because if it is $44.41 that is a $30 difference.

That's quite a bit, but then they are independent, meaning they pay full price at the parks and then sell it to you at a price that covers the price, gives them a profit, and covers shipping. It's understandable, and sometimes worth it, but still quite pricey.

I really think I remember reading that it was in the $20s in the park. You can try DelivEARS... they will charge a $8 shipping fee (but you can order multiple items and it will still only cost $8 regardless of how many items you get) but the price itself will be exactly what it is in parks.

Maybe Escapay can help us, since he's at Disney World (assuming they have the DL album there, but it should be the same price as the DL 2-Discer, I would think).

DelivEARS is indeed selling this, for just $24.95 plus shipping. Here's the number: (800) 362-4533.

You can also check out the Disney Records page for these CDs: http://disney.go.com/disneyrecords/50th/ as well as a new CD where Julie Andrews selects her favorite Disney songs, and a new pop CD of Disney covers (both original, re-used, and all new... including the return of Peabo Bryson!) that benefits the Make A Wish Foundation. Both of these are part of this same anniversary line-up.

Interestingly...

I've seen WDW's Fantasmic, but haven't heard the CD version
I haven't seen DL's Fantasmic, but I have heard the CD version

DL's CD version seemed to be almost exactly what I hear live at WDW... it really felt like I was there. The main difference is the Peter Pan scene, which sounds really cool. Of course I can't vouch for whether or not there are differences.

Captain EO- right you are. Everything from MOM/DelivEARS is the exact same price that you will find it in the resort for, which is (usually) SRP. :)

Sorry to brig this up (even more so now that this is the 2nd time :oops: ) but is this set worth the $124.99 US? I mean even if it was this version? ( http://disney.store.go.com/DSSectionPag ... PRVRV2_IMG ) Also how is that record? I have been saving and trying to persuade my father to let me buy the set.

It's a high price tag, but not unheard of, and you truly couldn't ask for better content.

I'll have a full review of the set in the weeks ahead, but in case you didn't know, it will be available nationwide on September 20, with a $99.99 retail price. <a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/ ... >Amazon</a> now has it up for preorder. The only difference will be 1) it's no longer limited and 2) it will have a black (not gold) vinyl version of the Walt Disney Takes You to Disneyland record.

I have been drooling ever since I saw an ad for it on Vintage Mickey. Thanks Luke! $99.00 seems a bit much but I think it'll be worth it! :D

Well I herad that the record was DISNEY park and disney online only even if it is Black vinyl and that Walt Disney Takes You to Disneyland will only be out in other places like Amazon on CD. So I was going to go with Disney.com's copy.

It was park & internet-exclusive for a long time, but Luke is correct in that it will be available at Amazon. To my knowledge, all the copies currently out there have the gold vinyl, and all those that are in this upcoming, cheaper wave, will have the black vinyl (and I could have sworn I remembered reading one other difference between the sets, but I can't remember what it was now). So your best bet really would be going through Amazon at this point (and be sure to use UD's link!!!).

No I know that but Disney Mag even said that it would have the book and cds but not the record for the cheaper wide version.

And Aaron and I are saying that the cheaper national version <i>will</i> indeed have the record, but only in black vinyl. Perhaps the packaging may be different as well.

Ok, my memory's going back a ways on this one, but I think that the original plans were for the record to not be included at all on the wide release. That has been changed, though.
