Hey Fidget1234, I'm a CP, here till August! (So unfortunately I can't see you in September, )
I've noticed that CMs seem this way cuz we're on "that side" of the vacation, so tourists & everyone else who isnt CM dont know what they go through all day, 5-6 days a week, all year-even holidays too cuz theme parks never close unless there is hurricane in the way.
Yeah, I guess we kind of are that way because of the two sides of the vacation (and I never thought of it like that, I'll have to use that more often).
Dont take those words the wrong way, he's not giving u the tips to vent, he's giving the tips to help so your day will be easier when visiting parks, & when your day is easier, so is the CMs day.
Yay! Someone understands!
Escapay, I did the same thing, I had a website once for tips for WDW. I have also submitted stories & tips, & reports to a few diff website helpers for theme-parking. I have like 3-4 on allears.net & counting.... haha.
Shane & I are working on a tips & guides book too-(like birnabaums does) & its a project we wont have completed for sometime, but its in the works.
Coolness, I'll have to check it out. Tell me when the book's complete!

i totally hear ya.
book will be a long-term project, but we're def gonna do it.
Besides the normalties- what do u think of your CP? Make sure u take advantage of ALL the cast privlidges. I know I did! haha....
there used to be phamphlet for CMs on where u can get your discount & special treatments... I dunno if its still available tho... you prob woulda gotten that at traditions....
Are there internet connections in the rooms now? We used to have to go to the computer room @ Vista if we wanted to go online-& alot of the websites were banned for use.... Plus we were only allowed 30 minutes per computer & used to have to reserve a time slot. Granted it was only a few years ago....but just wondering how much has changed since then
PS-once your term is complete you will become WDW CP ALUMNI & will still get emails once in a while to return for a summer or holiday program. i still get them once or twice a year...
PSS- I think your original post was great, & u got it down to the T!
Hope u are having a blast down there, i miss it so much!

That's what Jane McCoy is doing! But then that means I'll be all by myself this summer ...

Hmm, aside from the "normalities", the CP is pretty good. I think the only real advantage I take is the free park hopping and the 20% discount. Of course, a rat bastard told me that we'd be going back to 40% in May, and we didn't.
Yeah, the pamphlet is (appropriately) titled "ID: Incredible Discounts!" and shows the Incredibles.

Yep, we finally got internet connections, not that it helps ME any, as I don't have a computer down here. And Vista Lay's computer lab got a nice renovation, and the best thing is we don't need to reserve time slots and we're not limited to 30 minutes now. I once went in on an off day and ended up staying for like three hours.

Yay, I'll get mail! (I never get mail)

Biggety Bump, but thought I'd share some more advice:
Memorial Day to Labor Day is officially the summer season. That means there will always be a line. Everywhere. A line for the rides, a line for restaurants, a line for the cash register. Even a line for a small ice cream wagon. EVEN LINES FOR THE BATHROOM. Prepare yourselves for lines. The shortest line you'll ever encounter, though, will always be ours. 5 minutes tops is the wait for Popcorn, Ice Cream, and/or Roasted Almonds.
And I just am going to reiterate once again: WATER SELLS FAST. If you come up to us and we say "I'm sorry, we're out of water at the moment", do not get mad. And do not get mad if you're given a lukewarm bottle once you pay for it after you saw a stocker throw the bottles from the boxes into the drink wagon five minutes ago. It's hot. Ice melts faster than you think it does. Bring in water from the outside, it's much cheaper.
If we say, "We'll be with you in a minute", that does mean we'll be with you in a minute. Do not start saying your order as soon as you hear sound come from our mouths. If we said "Don't say anything while I call the guys at inventory to bring us more water", that means, "don't say thing while I call the guys at inventory to bring us more water".
Magic Kingdom is the busiest park in the resort, and Fantasyland is the busiest part in the busiest park in the resort. So unless you have small children or you really really really love the rides, try and avoid it. Also, a certain area of Frontierland I like to refer to as the "Bottleneck" is always crowded. The area around Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, and the WDW Railroad. Like Fantasyland, unless you really really like those rides and are willing to wait 90+ minutes, avoid it.
Cinderellabration is an okay show for a first-time visitor. It gives you an idea of how grand the park is, with the music and the dancing and everything. If you're a girl 10 years old or younger, you'll LOVE LOVE LOVE it. Anything else and it's a "nice show". Nothing breathtaking. If you have nothing better to do and want to stand in a crowd in front of the castle, this show is for you.
Don't skip out on Carousel of Progress, The Timekeeper, Hall of Presidents, Small World, Jungle Cruise, and Pirates of the Caribbean. They are some of the most underrated gems in the park. Same with Spaceship Earth, Universe of Energy, The Great Movie Ride, and Backlot Tour.
Wear sneakers and light colors. Sneakers make your feet feel better and light colors are better to battle the heat.
Do not eat any ice that is in our drink wagons. It is filthy, dirty, and touched by filthy and dirty human hands. We handle several things with our hands, among them money, food, trash the guests give us to throw away even though a trash can is right next to them, and other things. Also, those drink wagons are not scrubbed down at the end of the night. We simply take the drinks out and let the ice melt, then fill it up again the next day. So years of dirt and bird poop and blood sweat and tears are in there even if you can't see it. So don't eat the ice.
Watch the parades from Liberty Square. It's never crowded there.
We don't rent pigs.

<<<Look at my current avatar to see my reaction to what Escapay says the guests do.
I am sorry, but I almost vomitted when I read this part of your post, Escapay. Who the hell do these guests think they are? In my opinion, they're the kind of people that make the world such a poopy place. It just bugs me to see how arrogant some people are.
Thanks for more thorough insider's advice, Escapay! I'm planning on going to Disneyland for the first time ever this summer and I expect your tips to come in handy!

Disneyland in California or Disney World in Florida? What has finally prompted you to go?
Maerj wrote:Disneyland in California or Disney World in Florida? What has finally prompted you to go?
California. Partly because of the 50th Anniversary and partly because I have someone else to go with. Should be fun and I'll finally be a little less "out of the loop", I guess.

This must be a seasonal thing because I rented several pigs when we were there in April with no problems.
Lol, I was actually making a reference to Lonesome Dove. Gus put that line on the sign for god knows why and it always cracked me up.
Have fun in DLR Lukester! Buy a bucket of popcorn and when it's half full drop it and a castmember will get you a new one! I'm guessing you're going with...Renata? Get her some mouse ears!

-Aaron
It's all high speed, Aaron. The rooms, the "Learning Centers" (comp lab just sounds too college for them I guess), every possible place a computer could be, it's all high speed. Wireless I think. Disney can afford it anyway.
Funny, I should've mentioned that since Thursday night, and up until Monday night, Jane and I are back home in NJ (Kram's Graduation).

I live in Florida, so talking about waiting through the rain shower at Disney is extreemly smart. Everytime we go to Disney it almost ALWAYS rains. And every time it rains, we watch the lines dwindle quickly. Even what seems like a large thunder and lightning storm won't likely stick around long. Even if it does, how often do you hear of storm related accidents at the parks? Exactly. Buy a poncho and run from ride to ride. Better yet, if it's the dead of summer, let the rain pour down on you, because in 15-20 minutes, you're going to be dieing of heat from the Florida sun anyways.
First of all, I want to say you are very lucky Escapay. I would love to be able to work at Disneyworld. Also, I have been to Disneyworld 3 times in the past year and a half (I have been very fortunate). I have to say, the cast members are always so wonderful there and I do feel bad for them sometimes because there are people who are rude to them for no reason and being a Disney employee, they just have to stand there and take it. Disneyworld probably has the best employees in the world.
By the way, I always call the Magic Kingdom Disneyworld. I mostly do it because it drives my husband crazy but I thought it was funny that it was mentioned in Escapay's initial post on this topic.
