Speaking about Phantom of the Opera. Yesterday I was at Wal Mart and someone was looking for Phantom of the opera. The sales person found one and said it was the last one they had. They looked at it and said "they only have it in widescreen." They didn't buy it.

Disney movies of 2005
Well, I'm glad Bambi did well, I wish it did a lot better, though... I certainly hope Cinderella does well, because Disney is going to do huge advertising for it and they would be devastated if all that was for nothing. That would make them almost hate Cinderella and they might shove it into a cold dark corner in their anger. But I seriously doubt that it will do poorly, because it seems Cinderella has a HUGE little girl princess fanbase. At http://www.dreamstation.cc/news/video_games/id6970, they talk about some key selling points:
• Unrivaled marketing support. Buena Vista Home Entertainment projects to spend $150 million on their marketing campaign for the DVD – bigger than Finding Nemo
• The Cinderella brand has nearly universal awareness with moms of girls 2-5 (Cartoon Q – Fall 2003 for primary Princess characters)
• The Cinderella brand Q – Score out ranks Barbie, Bratz, Dora, and Strawberry Shortcake with moms of kids 2-5 (Cartoon Q – Fall 2003 for primary Princess characters)
• DVD is projected to be one of the top 10 videos of 2005
But many boys like Cinderella a lot too, as I do. I mean, most of the real parts of Cinderella have the mice Gus and Jaq, who are guys, and that scene where the coach is getting chased by the castle guards is kind of like a car chase! And it even explodes in the end! Kind of... (the magic ends in a huge explosion of sparkles, and the guards smash the pumpkin to pieces...kind of reminds me of Sleepy Hollow!)
And as for Phantom of the Opera, I love that movie very much. I thought it was VERY GOOD! And the music is so great, I have the soundtrack. I can't believe anyone would rather see the movie in fullscreen than in widescreen! I think a lot of people in the world need to be educated in the real difference between fullscreen and widescreen. Forget sex ed. We need widescreen ed.

Re: Movies of 2005 and how they did for Disney
Agreed. Some of my friends think that movies are filmed in fullscreen and that widescreen is just the fullscreen image with the top and bottom cut off. Have mercy! It really annoys me when people are so misinformed. And c'mon, who'd want to learn about sex when they can learn about the right way to buy a DVD? That's right, nobody.Disney Duster wrote:I can't believe anyone would rather see the movie in fullscreen than in widescreen! Probably because it was gold. That proves if you ever want to sell something bad, make it gold. I think they got the colors mixed with the widescreen version. For Christmas one time, I remember getting the How the Grinch Stole Christmas DVD and I didn't realize it was fullscreen until I played it, even though it said "fullscreen" at the top.Timon/Pumba fan wrote:I just was at Costco a while ago and I saw a women who looked at both version of the Star Wars trilogy(Widescreen and Fullscreen) and she bought Full Screen!

Oh well, I don't watch that movie anymore anyway.

Most of the fullscreen that I have on DVD are the ones that were made fullscreen.
