does anyone know if there were inserts included in the original Jungle Book, Little Mermaid, Lady and the Tramp, and 101 Dalmations DVD's?

Yes.

If you find one on Ebay listing "no insert" is 99% certain its a bootleg.
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

Yep, there were. I don't have any of the Limited Issues but i've borrowed them from the library and they DO have inserts. Nothing much, just a chapter listing, but it's there.

all "limited issue" releases included chapter inserts in the original packaging. if people selling them claim they are brand new unopened they should come with the inserts in the buena vista logo shrinkwrap.

Yep, and for some reason, inserts are difficult for bootleggers to fake, so more often than not, they're not made, I hear. I'd be suspicious of copies from places like Amazon Marketplace or eBay that don't have inserts, especially if they were sealed.
