I agree with both situations there, DVD or Comic books... Buying 50 copies is a little out of hand.. and does take away the opportunity for a mom or collector like ourselves to get a copy of a movie.. esp if it's released under limmited issue.Sunset Girl wrote:Yeah, that's something else I thought of when I talked about the comic books. I actually think that happens a lot with DVD's that have a limited availability and can be hard to find in the first place, like certain Disney Treasures sets.indianajdp wrote:Very interesting discussion, slash.
The thing that I have a problem with is someone that will go out and buy 50 copies of a DVD just to hoarde and sell en masse years later. That takes product (potentially) out of the hands of someone that would truly enjoy the film. INstead that person may have to visit three more stores and possibly pay a bit more now (or even more on eBay) to get the film.
Since I've started seriously collecting Disney DVD's, I buy 2 of each new release under the "big" movie titles.. One for me, one for future sale to help fund my efforts of acquiring a complete collection... And esp if they release comes with a cool gift!
I wouldn't categorize myself a hoarder for profit.. but it helps fund the hard to find purchases.
One way (And I know a few stores do this in my area) to prevent the 50 copy hoarding, is to limit the number of movies you can purchase. Granted, you can walk out and in again, or go to multiple stores.. but at least it helps somewhat to keep supply available.
