Next Classic?

Does anyone know which one is going to be the next classic? What is it going to be about? and When is it going to be released?

Brother Bear is the next classic and it's set to be released on November 1st. Official Website.

Using "classic" in the all-inclusive Disney Animated Features sense of the word that excludes things like "Dinosaur" and "Return to Never Land."

Yeah.... and not only that!!! the next next classic is already planned!!! "Home on the Range".... and they're trying to make it really classic disney style drawings because it's the 45th classic!

Finally some good old style animated disney flicks!

Maybe though they're just trying to relive the magic....

..... and they'll dump the idea after the 45th!

I heard that Rapunzel (which I hoped would bring back 2-D animation, a la Little Mermaid, and be done in classic fairy-tale style) will now be a comedy. And not by the way of sidekicks-they say Rapunzel herself will really be letting her hair down, and have most of the comedy.
Another loss.

this one had so much potential.

But Enchanted sounds soooooooooooooo good

Enchanted is about this traditionally animated princess who is banished to the real world (New York City) where she falls in love. (when she's in new york, she's live-action)

Then, she must choose to return to her parallel-universe-fairy-tale-kingdom-world and continue to be a fairy-tale princess, or become a real woman and stay with her true love in NYC.

it sounds so good. it sounds confusing, but oh well.

based on the definition of classic, it's not unreasonable:

the examples I've coloured red are legitimate reasons why Disney are justified in labeling the film a classic, even before it's release. Looks like Hercules is the Disney film most qualified to be called a classic, given it's ancient Greek background

Of course there is another definition that seem to be missing from Dictionary.com

Home on the Range(2004) is, for now, the last Hand drawn/ Traditionally animated feature. After that is Chicken Little(2005) which is the first in the new wave of CGI animated feautures created by disney, excluding Dinosuar.

Chicken Little is said to be in A Traditional style similar to the B.E.N. character in Treasure Planet.

My personal definition of a classic or just classic, is timeless, therefore a classic [story] would be a story that is timeless. Now a stroy might have the influence of the time period, for example I believe The Little Mermaid has a lot of 80's influence, but years and years down the line, people could watch the Little Mermaid and understand it without needing to know the history of the time in which it was made. The story itself is timeless.

Now a movie like herc, which could have been timeless, maybe would not qualify as much. There are many references to the present day, but present day 1997 isn't present day 2097.
Jokes like the "Air Herc's" sandles or the Herc cola and souvinere cup will be so out of date by then and people might not even get them...

Constant inside jokes about current political and sproting events and stuff like that takes away from the classic factor. And that is exactly what a lot of those comedies like Shrek, and possibly Rapunzel and so on are like. Because not enough thought is put into the humour so somebody throws in a Bill looking character that says "I did not have sexual relations with that womwan" or some thing to that effect and everyone starts laughing but years down the line people will probably be scratching their heads saying I do'nt get it.

Therefore to sum up I will once again say that classic, in my mind, means timeless.
