I like this cover much better than the first, but I'd like to see a bigger version of it.

The UK and French have an adult touch that makes the difference.
I believe you meant US above in the childish part, not UK.

And you're absolutely right, that's the key difference. Those UK and French covers are adult oriented, and gorgeous.

Disney just doesn't seem to get how many of us adults are out here. I haven't shopped at the local Disney Store for over a year, because there's just not any adult stuff left.

Here's a bigger, clearer look at the new art:

I think the UK and French covers are the best. The US one is just plain and I frankly dont like it. When I get some money, I am going to be ordering it from mostlikely the UK, cause I love the cover from both, but the UK one is nice with color. I just wish it was R1, so I could play it elsewhere besides my region free DVD.

Although I agree that the French and the UK have better covers, I like the new U.S. one. The only thing that I find weird is that the artwork on disc 1 with Aurora and Phillip looks like something out of a cheap Barbie movie, but that's a minor annoyance.

She may be on the left side of either disc, or on the back cover. :)

Shocked that this isn't labeled Platinum Edition.

I still hold out hope that by the time they have to press these it will be changed.

Is the Platinum name that important, though? The spine, while it may be changed, looks nearly identical to Beauty and the Beast.

I guess I hope they don't do a repackaging as a Platinum Edition anytime soon, if this is just an "SE" but it's semantics, really.

Agreed. If you lined SB up in the shelf with the Platinums, you couldn't tell the difference from the spine. And as long as the material equals the amount on the Platinums, it doesn't really matter to me what banner its under.

Yeah. I'm collecting the series obsessively, so I would double dip on Sleeping Beauty to get the Platinum label even if the discs were exactly the same. Thus, I hope Platinum Edition shows up on the cover (instead of Special Edition) this year so I don't have to.

Bleah - whatever cover they use, I don't like either. The "two big heads for half the cover space" theme is hugely annoying to me, and with this new one, it looks like they stuck a screenshot of Phil and the dragon on the bottom, to take up the other half of the cover. Is the concept of good composition lost to Disney? I know they make these covers to attract kids' attention in stores, but these Sleeping Beauty POSs look like a cheap GoodTimes cover, or something. X-P

And uh, Jake? Settle down, dude! I mean, you're saying you would honestly blow $30 more bucks for an identical set, just because its piece of paper has a slightly different banner on the front than that other set's piece of paper? Oy... o_O
I mean, if they re-released some sets with better, more sopisticated cover art altogether, then even I would consider it. But teeny tiny differences from one flimsy paper sheet to the next? Nuh-uh.
Life often leaves us standing bare, naked and dejected with a lost opportunity. Over the bleached bones and jumbled residues of numerous civilizations are written the pathetic words: "Too late."

Yes, I would -- that's how obsessive I am. ;) I'd even buy a cheapquel under the Platinum banner if it was released (but don't tell Eisner I said that.)

Yeah, I suppose I could get by if it's not a "platinum" title but, if they are adding SB to the platinum line then why wouldn't it be and I'd sure like it to. Paka, double dipping isn't too bad when you have ebay. I did it for LOTR last time and I'll probably do it again this time.

when did Aurora got plastic surgery??? In that cover seems that she's got too much colagen...

Still I'm going to order that one online because my Mom likes the Fullscreen... (on second though maybe I get it from a Brazil retailer...)

Is the R1 (US version) getting just English audio track???
isn't at least going to get French???
not to ask for Spanish...

Looks like a 1/2-inch to me. Why do they do that? The stupid little plastic thingies are always breaking off and it doesn't feel "big" enough.

I don't think any of us have a problem with the bottom half; it's the top half that's absolutely revolting. I pray with all my might that that same artist doesn't end up doing the SE covers for Alice, Pocahontas, and Lilo.
