Atlantis 2:Milo's return-a waste of time and money?

Post by Mayflower »

Hi everyone. I've rewatched my video collection this weekend and pointed out that Milo's return was my saddest waste of money :( Animation is AWFUL, the plot is even MORE AWFUL - I understood the idea but couldn't stick together those three-parted adventures of Milo's renewed team+ Kida. It is so sad...It seems to be a sort of a sequel to some TV series, like Lilo&Stitch: the Movie. Everyone who had seen this film, any other ideas? :?:

Well I actually appreciate the release pf Milo's Return. Agreed the animatiom is below the level of the other direct to video stuff such as The Lion King 1 1/2 but this is because it IS a TV show.

Atlantis was going to be a TV show and 3 "test" episodes were made. They decided in the end not to make a TV show, and instead compiled the 3 episodes together to make Milo's Return.

So in actual fact it is not a sequel in any real sense. This is 3 TV episodes, so that is why the plots are so different and why the animation is of TV level.

I don't think Milo's Return is actually that bad if you view it AS Tv episodes, but as a sequel is is abyssmal.

Thanks for opening my eyes! :) Still it's quite sad, you know, it all looks like they didn't know what to do with the product that fitted nowhere...

Okay, Atlantis 2: Milo's return wasn't a waste of money for me cause I got it for $12.99 at Best Buy!!!! Anyway it wasn't so bad if they were going to make a television series I would probably watch it.

Atlantis is one of my favorite Disney movies (no need to give me garbage about that... for whatever reason I like it, and that's my business), but this "sequel" was atrocious. I watched it once and have ZERO desire to ever see it again. Even as TV episodes I would have been bored watching this garbage. I really hate that dinosaur like thing. Without the dinosaur I probably would have found the experience bearable. But thanks to the dinosaur's inclusion, I now find myself on a high number of happy pills.

I never saw Atlantis 2: Milo's Return. I actually heard if Atlantis did well at the box office they would have a t.v. show and a theme park attraction!(Replacing the Subs!) But since it was a flop it never happened. The original Atlantis was okay. But since sequels are usually worse than the original I stayed away from even renting it!

Atlantis 2, in my opinion, wasn't a waste of money. Then again, I bought it from EBAY it and it's selling for a lot cheaper than what MMP paid. :headshake:

But it's not the greatest and Atlantis is much, much, much better than the sequel. I almost fell asleep watching it, but I finished watching the whole movie. For now, it's just sitting on the DVD shelf...collecting dust. ;)

I want that movie even if the quality is below normal. I can live through animation that isn't as great as theatrical movies (if not I would have never bought Gargoyles on DVD or never watch any of their great animated shows like Gummi Bears) but I just hope it's a good story or atleast fun an enjoyable.

What is keeping me from buying it is that you can get it at Wal-Mart for $25 while you can buy animated classics usually for a lot less!
Same goes for Stitch!: The Movie. You would think these would be cheaper.

At least one episode of Atlantis was audio recorded. It was written by Greg Weisman who wanted to give a great nod to Gargoyles fans. It featured a gargoyle VERY much looking like Demona and it was voiced by Marina Stritis (sp?). I think a very Macbeth character was in it as well. Of course their named weren't Macbeth and Demona, but it was still meant to give hats off to the Gargoyles. I would pay good money for the audio tapes of that episode

Yea, but seeing as how no one would buy them, they're prices have to be higher. It's just stupid.

Well, I actually like Milo's Return a lot. Of course, I don't think of it as a sequel (and never have)* It's just 3 episodes of a TV series that never was bridged by new animation and a (threadbare) plot.

And it's a shame the TV series was canned after the poor reception of the film. I think these 3 'episodes' show, a TV series of Team Atlantis could have been better than Disney's Tarzan or Hercules series, and [gasp] perhaps even better than the fabled Gargoyles (hey Gargoyles fans - I did say perhaps!).

I feel so cheated we never got Team Atlantis. I already know, thanks to Milo's Return, that I would love it.

*However, a 'true' sequel for Atlantis was planned and is actually advertised on a flyer in the DVD case of Atlantis. This was to be the proper 'bridge' between the feature film and the animated Team Atlantis television series. This was cancelled at the same time as Team Atlantis. Perhaps Disney put out Milo's Return to honour their advert?

If Disney cared about honoring an advertisement we would have Dumbo II in our hands by now. Like any company, if it's not good enough, it wont be released no matter what was advertised. And like just about any company, if they have a "final" product (in this case, the three TV episodes), they're going to release it just to bring back in as much cash as possible.

Actually I DIDN"T MEAN HOW MUCH ALL OF YOU PAID FOR THE MOVIE, I MEANT IT'S QUALITY 8) Storyline, animation, composition and the rest of that sort is VERY POOR, even as FOR THE TV SERIES, cause nobody said TV shows should be awful. I thought Disney cares for it's reputation and products. Maybe Disney does, but in a quite strange way...

really, how can you do a good sequel of a bad movie?
I haven´t seen it yet, but if the sequels are almost always way worse that the original, and the original bored me...

It's not a rule. As a matter of fact, Disney has enough inspiration and fresh ideas to make a good movie, but usually it's inspiration ends on the second part. Or, as you've said, both first and second parts lack inspiration and creativity

Fair enough you can comment on disliking the characters and the story, because it was different from other Disney movies, you can tar it for being misguided, you can slam it for being a flop, but lacking inspiration and creativity?

Were we watching the same movie? :?
