The absolute BEST disney DVD?

Post by Alan »

what do you people think if the BEST disney DVD that has comprehensive and a lot of extras, easy to navigate, good sound and restoration, and just is a really great DVD with lots of bonus features.

I think its Aladdin PE. Great movie, great image and sound quality, GREAT extras, and a classic film! I really don't like the Lion king one since its hard to navigate and the extras are kind of sketchy.

I don't judge a movie's worth by how easily I can navigate the menus..

I'm talking about the DVD, not the actual movie itself

I loved Aladdin, too, but I really like the Sleeping Beauty one also; it's one of the two.

Animation
Best Platinum Edition: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
Best Special/Anniversary/Whatever Edition: Pocahontas
Best Single-Disc: Treasure Planet

Live Action
Best 2-Disc (Catalogue): Mary Poppins
Best 2-Disc (New Release): Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
Best Single-Disc: Bedknobs and Broomsticks (this would've easily gone to The Princess Diaries, but now that that's become a 2-Disc, it seems pointless to give it to the older edition)

Just watched ALADDIN again yesterday, and I'm inclined to agree.

My personal favorite would be a tie between: Snow White and Beauty and the Beast for overall best DVD presentation. Aladdin is a VERY close second.

oh ok, just on special features alone.. Let's see.. I thought Bambi was pretty easy to navigate, good content..

Was disapointed with the incredibles..

Wish more DVD's showed the actors doing the voice overs.

There's so many to choose from. I guess mine would go something like this:
Best Platinum: Snow White
Best Special/Collector's Edition: Tarzan, Emperor's New Groove, Atlantis
Best Single Disc: Treasure Planet
Best PIXAR: This is hard. Ultimate Toy Box or Monsters Inc.
Diamond in the Rough is the best documentary.
As for best game: Uh, no comment. :P

I find it amusing how some people won't say it just because the movie is only so-so. Atlantis is one of the finest DVDs out there. Start off with a great package (in the UK it gets a special bottle-like slipcover), a visual commentary, DTS sound, a 2 hour making-of with no fluff what-so-ever, deleted scenes, CGI demonstrations, tons of galleries and publicity material and hardly anything childish included! Sure, the movie may not be loved, but give the great packaging a bit of credit!

I'd say the best DVD release is either the Platinum editons of Bambi or Aladdin.

The Pocahontas 10th anniversary edition was really great also!!!
