As I still have yet to get the new Pocahontas DVD (sigh), I've been trying to tide myself over until I get the money for it by listening to my soundtrack from 10 years ago. Which I really need to replace eventually, since I've lost the lyrics booklet that goes with it.
But then I thought of If I Never Knew You, which is of course on the old soundtrack as one of the two end-credits radio singles used for the film. And that's actulally a pretty nice recording. But, obviously, the in-character version as heard in the new cut of the film (and the reprise) is not on my old CD. Which got me thinking that it really should see a CD release, but I'm not exactly sure what's up with that. It doesn't strike me as something that would fit on Disneymania or one of their simmilar collection releases, but there has not been a corrasponding special edition soundtrack to go with the DVD. And you'd think it would be out by now if they were going to do one.
So, what gives? Anybody know of any plans for the song to surface on CD? I would gladly buy the soundtrack again with the in-character IINKY and its reprise included.
