Disney DVDs - buying experiences at eBay
Just got off the phone with Disney Customer Service/Support and they are sending me a prepaid mailing envelope so I can send back the entire Beauty and The Beast DVD back to them for testing. I should receive this next week so this is going to be a 2 or 3 week process which is fine as long as I get a replacement in the end. Now I have a new problem...since I am sending them the entire DVD, I am hesitant to send them the cardboard slipcover because I have heard about them being hard to come by. Should I just send them back the DVD without the slipcover? I don't want them to send me a replacement and have it not include the slipcover. Any suggestions?
Don't send the slipcover. How do they know if you originally got one or not?
Keep it. If you get a replacement with a slipcover, I'm sure lots of people here would want your spare!

Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database
now that I think about it, I am also hesistant about sending them the inserts. It came with everything...the DVD booklet, coupon booklets....what to do, what to do. I guess all that really matters is the DVD discs themselves. I might just send the case with the 2 DVD's in it and keep the inserts and slipcover at home.
Did you ask them if they still have the inserts and slipcover for Beauty and the Beast?jfig24 wrote:now that I think about it, I am also hesistant about sending them the inserts. It never hurts to ask..because none of us have the answer to your question. It's not right to assume on that part.
So I say, ask them!

Thanks for sharing the tips MickeyMousePal and goofy108. I asked the seller in Asia some questions, but he/she never wrote back. lol
I'll try not to buy anything from Canada. No offense! I don't want to spend three dollars and 25 cents for an International Money order and 74 cents on postage. Pluse, my mail order takes 4 - 7 days to reach Canada.
I might buy some livre de Roi Lion, but that's about it.
I'm going to look at msadrakula's eBay store. She seems like a nice person.

Scammed yet again on ebay!
I am going to give up on ebay! I purchased an "original" copy of Toy Story 2 from some guy and it looks like an obvious fake. For starters, it came with the glossy chapter insert in a cheap looking white case. It has obviously been rewrapped in some cheap hard cellophane. Also, t had no security tape on either the top, bottom, or side of the case?! Since when do Disney/Pixar DVD's come this way?!!?!?!?! I give up! This is my second time getting scammed! Here is the link if you want to check it out:

I am so furious right now! Hopefully I can get a refund from this guy. I just e-mailed him so hopefully he will answer back.

Re: Scammed yet again on ebay!
I don't think you should "give up on ebay" because of your bootleg incidents. It usually helps when you contact the seller about the item to make sure that the seller is guaranteed to keep in contact with you.jfig24 wrote:I am going to give up on ebay!
Ask for pictures! pictures pictures pictures! That means the TOP and BOTTOM of the DVD to see the "factory sealed stickers." Ask for the BVHE stamp.
Get contact information.
Check feedback.
Look at items sold.
True, there are many bootlegs on EBAY, but you'd be surprised that there really are REAL DVDs on there.
yea, I've bought bootlegs from sellers (but it wasn't my choice to bid, just forced by someone [because I'm nice...].

As RJKD23 said, ask for pics! Still no guarantee, but you can cut down on your chanced of being screwed. Have you contacted the seller?

well i dont blame your for bidding his auction does look like hes selling an authentic coppy of the dvd, usually ebay sellers selling bootlegs will avoid using the words "100% original" or "authentic" becoz later they can say well i never said it was original even if they imply it,
u gota watch out 4 dodgy ppl like dis guy hu will lie out of his teeth 4 a quik buck, good luk 4 nxt tym dough and hope u get your mony bak

ok, so I heard back from the guy.......he said he is sorry and claims that he bought the dvds from a licensed Disney dealer on Amazon.com. He even had the guy fax him his paperwork to be sure. I seem to be the first one to complain to him about the possibility of them being bootleg copies...even though he's sold quite a few of them in the past.
Direct quote:
"I am no expert in spotting a bootleg, but you have pointed out a few suspicious things. I figured the security devices and stickers were something that retail outlets did on their own. I'm going to talk with the person I bought them from ASAP and tell him what you have told me. I will very dissapointed if I find out that this person is selling me bootleged movies. I would appreciate If you would not give me negative feedback. I sell these DVDs exactly how I buy them, and in no way am I a bootleger! I will send you a refund today because you seem to be very upset.
Sorry Once Again."
I am happy he responded so quickly and in such a positive manner, but I am still upset. He might have been scammed as well. At least he is offering me a refund. I am even impressed that he is going to process a refund before I even send the movie back to him.

You must start looking better for the signes:
First this seller was selling loads of OOP Disney movies and nobody have loads of these anymore. The reason why they are expencive are because they only sold so few.
From my experience almost nobody have original sealed anymore because those that had once have sold them a long time ago and those that bought them riped of the plastic.
Then the most obvios sign was his statement that he was a "Disney licensed seller on Amazon.com". Disney has no such thing as a licensed seller.
If you want to buy these original then go for those that are selling out their collection and also are selling these. There are people like that all the time but they do not only sell Disney OOP titles

"You hate to repeat yourself. I don't like to make sequels to my pictures. I like to take a new thing and develop something, a new concept." - Walt Disney
I bought a copy of Sleeping Beauty on eBay....and it said it was factory sealed brand new...blah blah...had the details of the 2-disc version as well as the picture....once I had won it, they brought up that it was a single-disc import. I told them I'm refusing to pay because they lied in the description. If you don't pay for it because it's false, and they complain, you can file a claim with ebay about it. I believe you can also do it if you have paid to try and get your money back.

jfig, that's good to hear that the seller responded!
I bet it's because he didn't wanna ruin his perfect 100% feedback.
Screw the being nice, that guy knew it was a bootleg. You don't need "paperwork" to prove its real, buddy.
Obviously he hasn't left you feedback because he'll return a negative if you give him one.
Hmm..I wonder if you tell him that you will contact PayPal (if that's how you paid) and Disney about selling something illegal. Now, he'll really email you every day because he'll be scared!

You have to click on the "completed auctions" option and it will show you a previous history for 30 days I think.Starion wrote:Sorry to hear about your loss jfig24. $20 is a lot! I hope you get a refund of some sort.
I clicked "View seller's other items," but the results page showed no items. How strange.Lightyear wrote:Should have looked at items allready sold.
