I think Nintendo has a great chance to do well with the new system... hopefully they don't mess it up. So far it sounds pretty good though. I won't be able to buy any of the new systems once they come out... :cry:

Something that I thought was relevant to this discussion is this;

http://uk.gamespot.com/news/6148462.html

The codename Revolution has officially been changed to 'Wii'...'The Nintendo Wii'. I prefer Revolution :D

I have... no idea what Nintendo's thinking with this. Don't get me wrong, I'll buy one at launch... and I'll spend all night playing with my Wii... but still, what were they smoking?
Thanks to all that offered to help with my Avatar...Starion, RJKD23 and cj!

While I like the name Revolution, better, I would buy the system no matter what they called it.

I understand why they are naming it Wii (which is pronounced as we). I think that this system will be a hit. It's different than what Sony and Microsoft are doing, and it will stand out. It's a good thing, and I can't wait to get my hands on Wii!

The official website can be found, here: http://revolution.nintendo.com/

Introducing... Wii.
As in "we."

While the code-name Revolution expressed our direction, Wii represents the answer. Wii will break down that wall that seperates videogame players from everybody else. Wii will put people more in touch with their games... and each other. But you're probably asking: What does the name mean?

Wii sounds like "we," which emphasizes the console is for everyone. Wii can easily be remembered by people around the world, no matter what language they speak. No confusion. No need to abbreviate. Just Wii.

Wii has a distinctive "ii" spelling that symbolizes both the unique controllers and the image of people playing it. And Wii, as a name and a console, brings something revolutionary to the world of videogames that sets it apart from the crowd.

So that's Wii. But now Nintendo needs you. Because it's really not about you or me. It's about Wii. And together, Wii will change everything.

Well, the name is interesting, and is most certainly unique, but like others said, it will take more than an odd name to keep me away from Nintendo's next great system. :)
Cheers,

I will still buy the system, but I am afraid of what the American public will think of the name. Nintendo needs to do everything in their power to kick Sony and Microsofts' asses.
