HOCUS POCUS - new release?

Post by Candleshoe »

Hello, everyone! New member here!
I just noticed over at Amazon a new release of "Hocus Pocus" on August 5, 2003. Is this true? It doesn't list any different features, and the packaging looks the same. Anyone know anything?

Thank you - this is a wonderful site and forum!

heh I forgot all about this movie, thanks for reminding me. I saw this in theatres when I was 11 and it scared the crap out of me. Anyways, I checked Amazon and the new date is probably referring to their stock arrival. They might have placed new orders with their suppliers for extra copies to distribute. This generally happens when items are on backorder or something. That's probably the case.

Welcome, Candleshoe!

Another possible theory...a price change.
When titles go from, say, $29.99 to $19.99 Amazon relists them with new numbers and they appear as though they are new releases. I don't know a thing about this situation other than what you have described above, but it smells like a price change to me.

Wow, you folks are fast! thanks so much!

If it's just a price change, I think I'll stick with my usual source, which is www.deepdiscountdvd.com.

They list the Hocus Pocus dvd at $9.36 (Sleeping Beauty is $17.89)
and they always offer free shipping. (Anyone have a cheaper/better favorite source?)

Welcome, Candleshoe. It was indeed a price drop. (Seems like nearly all Disney '80-present live-action titles have come down to $14.99 SRP bargain bin pricing.)

Cheaper: Columbia House or the Disney Movie Club. Columbia House is the best deal on DVDs if you have a good code, and do it right, getting the most bang for the buck. Unfortunately, they only carry a handful of Disney animated titles.

As for "better", well, I don't really know. I usually complain about the long time it takes for DDD to ship, but Amazon's free shipping has been giving me the same thing lately. Although Amazon has been able to offer some nice deals, with the 30%+ off on some titles, free shipping, Share the Love, trivia, etc.

Thanks for the kind word on the site and forum. Hope you'll stick around and if you have any suggestions or questions, feel free to use the Feedback forum. :eye:

Thanks for the welcome, everyone!
I'll have to investigate those other sources...

Sometimes www.alldirect.com is also a bargain source, but they're also a bit hit-and-miss on the titles.
