I just saw it and I liked it I'm going to get it when I comes out on DVD. I liked the modern twist (EXCEPT:Kinda SPOILER: the fight scene that gets interupted with kermit at the meeting:END)I liked the little part (NOT really part of the movie) with michael eisner when Miss Piggy wants to kiss him. LOL

A bit of a let-down. The Muppets themselves were great, and in the end, their humor saved it. The human acting, though, was dismal (except Queen Latifah). David Allen Grier is always annoying and Ashanti confirmed the director's concerns that she can't act... she can't... at all. (I don't think she sings very well either, but her record sales speak for themselves). Hilary Duff, the original choice, would have been infinitely better. I also hated the Taratino interruption, but then, I'm not much of a fan of his. A few of the jokes surprised me with their edginess, but I suppose the Muppets have always tread that line.
The songs were mostly boring, except for the very good musical number from Kermit ("When I'm With You" or something), and Miss Piggy's number as the Witch of the West.

He is not a shrimp, he is a King Prawn!tarheelblue23 wrote:This has to be the worst version of Wizard of Oz and just about the worst Muppet Movie ever made. Dorothy with a pet shrimp, and wanting to see the Wizard so he can make her a star? Talk about killing a great book and movie. There were some funny moments, but this was God awful.
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

Yes! I forgot to mention that- that was awesome! I should also mention that the sets were all great- the Emerald City looked awesome, even if it was largely digital.JiminyCrick91 wrote:I loved the reference to Frank Oz.

I was disappointed with it compared to the other muppet movies. Muppet Christmas Carol is the best. I also like Muppets Take Manhattan.

I didn't catch it, but it sounds like this one was sort of in the vain of It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie, with this talk of edgier contemporary references. That's too bad, since I much prefer the 'older' Muppets. Like many others here, Muppet Christmas Carol is my favorite, but there's a great deal of charm to the first three movies that weren't based on classic stories; The Muppet Movie being the most enjoyable and Muppets Take Manhattan not too far behind.
Nonetheless, like RJKD23, a new Muppets movie will always garner my interest. Very Merry wound up in my collection, and this no doubt will too. But I'm quite more excited about "The Muppet Show" at this point, even if it will no doubt be dated the way Very Merry and (it sounds like Oz will be a few decades from now.

Oz didn't quite live up to Very Merry, in my opinion, but I might be biased because Whoopi Goldberg is in the latter.Luke wrote:I didn't catch it, but it sounds like this one was sort of in the vain of It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie, with this talk of edgier contemporary references.

I also have to say that I thought Eisner's appearance was a nice one. It has been a very long time since I've watched anything on Wonderful World of Disney and I haven't seen one of his interstitials since I was younger. I always liked them and I think that might be the best he's done for the company (:P kidding!). Still, I couldn't help but feel torn, given everything that's transpired in recent years. Of course those appearances aren't worth keeping him around.

Wow, I never knew that she was considered.........you learn something new everyday!awallaceunc wrote:Ashanti confirmed the director's concerns that she can't act... she can't... at all. And, if it isn't too much trouble, can someone post a list of all the Muppets movies on it?-preferably in chronological order?
