Lots of small spoilers follow, so beware, even though you probably aren't reading this thread if you're worried about that sort of thing (and I would hope for your sake that you ARE... this is not a movie you want to spoil for yourself... my comments are directed towards those who have already seen it):

I think a very small Solo cameo might have been cool, but if they would have gone into any detail with him, it would had to have been a completely separate storyline since he didn't meet any of the other Star Wars characters until Episode IV. His background was something that ran into Star Wars in A New Hope, not something that was relevant to the overarching scheme, so I really think that would have taken away from the movie.

I was worried about the movie being too rushed going in, but ended up thinking that it was paced just right (except maybe the speed with which Padme named the twins ).

Yes, they would have had to make like a 20 year leep between them to really tie everything from IV into III, that's why I said we need III 1/2, LOL. I know there were a lot of HUGE HUGE fans there last night who have read the books, and they were talking about how several things were unanswered, but at 3 a.m. I wasn't about to stand around and ask what...

Hmmm, I'm not sure about the books, as I haven't read them either (except for Shadows of the Empire forever ago). They aren't part of the Star Wars movie canon, though, so the films can't be held responsible for any discrepencies with the books or questions presented in the books that aren't answered in the films.

I just saw the movie and all I can say is WOW.
I have also read the epsiode III book and I noticed there were some change and stuff left out.
Lucas is suppose to make a tv show that takes place in between Episodes III and IV
I have also read every Star Wars Book out there

I saw the movie today.
I work in a cinema so I went to watch it before my shift.
When I first came out of the film, I thought it wasn't as good as expected but now thinking about it and going over some great scenes in my head, I do really like it. Can't wait to see it again, taking my family next time.

I'm just going to say aswell I've never seen the cinema so full with huge queues for the film, had to shut down screens to open up more for Episode III. I'm dreading work for the next two weeks!

It seems like this Han Solo thing is going to be the Internet Question of Choice, so here it goes...

In the original, Luke and Leia are supposed to be around 16-18 years old. Solo was supposed to be around 30, so that would have made him around 12 around the time of Episode 3, so that's probably why we didn't see him. That and the movie and overall story isn't about him.

I believe there are quite a few deleted scenes from this film since there are action figures and toys of characters that aren't even in the movie. I think we'll see seeing them on the DVD.

My review of Star Wars: Episode III-Revenge of the Sith

Post by MadonnasManOne »

First, let me start off by saying, if you do not want to spoil anything, and haven't seen it, yet, TURN BACK NOW!!!. There are SPOILERS AHEAD!!! .

The circle is complete.

I'm finally back from seeing Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. I've had a few hours to digest it, since my friends and I went to dinner, after the movie. Let me just say, you must go see it. If you were disappointed with Episode I and II, do not fear. Episode III is the Star Wars we've been waiting to see. It may not be the BEST of all six films, but it is, without a doubt, the best of the prequels. In fact, there are several scenes that are some of the best Star Wars ever written. There are a couple of scenes that are not that great, but overall, this film exceeds where the previous two fail.

If you haven't seen it, yet, and want to remain spoiler free, then do not read on. I'm going to discuss certain scenes that truly affected me during this film, and I do not want to ruin the experience for you, if you haven't seen it. You have been warned.

For the most part, this film is truly depressing. I mean that, not because it is a bad film, but because the subject is very dark. Anakin's turn to the dark side is sharp, and will leave you breathless. I never imagined him turning so drastically, the way he did. Hayden Christensen is excellent, as he turns from a Jedi, into a Sith. He portrays this role very well. I can truly feel Anakin's struggle. I can feel his fear, and his rage. He is being pulled, and manipulated, and you feel torn apart for him. Natalie Portman portrays Padme, for the most part, much as you would imagine her to react. They both do an excellent job in this film, compared to the last.

Ian McDiarmid continues his role of Palpatine/Evil Emperor with great skill, and gives his BEST performance in this film. His transformation into the grotesque Emperor Palpatine is chilling, and I literally had goose bumps during this scene. Anakin's betrayal is shocking, and his fall to the dark side is intense. The scene when he goes to the Jedi Temple, and kills the younglings is terrible. In fact, I teared up. I teared up twice during this film. It made me want to sob, in fact, because I truly felt the anger, the rage, and the sadness of it all. I've NEVER teared up during a Star Wars film, before. This truly affected me, and proves to me that Lucas has done what he set out to do. Ewan McGregor is superb as Obi-Wan, and the final scene between Obi-Wan and Anakin is EXCELLENT. So much anger, so much rage, and they portrayed it well! Thumbs UP!

The film manages to answer most of the questions I had, but a couple were left unanswered. At any rate, I give this film 4 1/2 stars out of 5. It's THAT good. I want to see it, again, and I will. I'll wait for a couple of weeks, or so, then go see it, again. There is so much to absorb, it begs for another viewing.

Hans Solo, I think they could have had at least of glimpse of him, somewhere...
He would have been about 10-years-old for Episode III. What would you have him do on screen that would be profoundly important to set up Star Wars (I still refuse to call it A N-- H---)?

Get a bootleg copy of The Dark Redemption:

Lots of them all over the place.

In a New Hope Luke and Leia are 20, It takes place 20 years after Revenge of the Sith, Which would put han at 10, it was nice seeing Chewie and I am glad they explained why C-3P0 and R2-D2 don't remember Anakin or Obi Wan, Yoda or anyone else from the first 3 movies

I thought it was said that Luke was 17 at the beginning of the New Hope... doesn't Uncle Owen say something about "maybe when you're 18"? I'll have to watch it again to be sure.

Good review, MadonnasManOne. I very much agree.

Oh yeah, the Narnia trailer wasn't with Star Wars when I saw it.

Thanks, Aaron! I'm ready to go see it, again. I find that I can't stop talking about it. Everyone that I've talked to seems to really have enjoyed it.

I was very elated to see the Narnia trailer before Star Wars: Episode III! It looks awesome!!! Fear not, Aaron. If you haven't seen the trailer, it is up on the website. Of course, you've probably seen it, and wanted to see it on the big screen, and it sucks that you didn't get to.

Major Spoilers Herein!

I saw it yesterday night (with my best friend) and all I can say is WOW! WOW! This film is a true dream come true for any Star Wars fan. The begining is fantastic. It is truly a great little space battle with Obi-Wan and Anakin helping each other get to the ship of General :cough: Grevous (you'll get it when you see the movie). When they get there, they arrive at a hangar where Chancellor Plapatine is, they are then confronted by Count Dooku. Both Obi and Ani fight Dooku for a little bit in a display of truly great sword play. Then Dooku does an incredible move where he manges to kick Anakin in the head and throw Obi Wan with the Force, causing Obi Wan to drop out of the battle. Anakin continues to fight Dooku until he manages to cut off both of Dooku's arms. Anakin then takes Dooku's lightsaber and his own, and scissors off Dooku's head. Palpatine praises Anakin for this.
The next bit of the film is mostly made up of Anakin with Padme and Anakin with Palpatine.
We then get to the part where Palpatine reveals himself as Darth Sidious to Anakin. Anakin does not respond well to this. Anakin goes to tell Mace Windu about Palpatine's true identity. Meanwhile Obi-Wan goes a sinkhole planet known as Utapau, where he kills General :cough: Grevous in a lightsaber duel.
Then Mace and three other Jedi confront Palpatine. Palpatine kills the other three with his lightsaber easily, then he and Mace duke it out. The duel ends when Palpatine fakes being beaten so Anakin will save him from Mace and become evil. Which Anakin does. Palpatine exagerates his defeat by making his face become twisted.
Palpatine thens deams Anakin "Darth Vader" and sends him to the volcanic planet of Mustafar where he kills the sepratists including Nute Gunray. Padme and C-3PO go to Mustafar to find Anakin, Obi-Wan sneaks on board Padme's ship without her knowing.
When Padme and C-3PO get to Mustafar, Anakin greets them, Padme tells Anakin that Obi-Wan told her that he had turned to the darkside, but that she refuses to believe it. Anakin sees Obi-wan exit her ship and thinks that see brought him, he then Force-Chokes her and thows her to the ground. Obi-Wan and Anakin then begin to fight. This is intercut with my favorite scene, a duel between Palpatine and Yoda.
Palpatine ends up on top of his duel, while Anakin ends up burned (literally!)
Papatine saves Anakin, Anakin gets into the Vader suit, Padme dies in child bearth, and Obi-Wan and Yoda go into exile.
The film is a sure joy and one not to miss, a worthy ending to a wonderful series.
