Dark Crystal similarities in Hercules and Black Cauldron.

Post by John289 »

Anyone notice how Hercules and Black Cauldron are strangely similar to Jim Henson's 1982 fantasy masterpiece " The Dark Crystal"?

Well BC ( Black Cauldron for short) was dark and eerie with a idea about a powerful object is similar to that of Dark Crystal's even with the PG rating and Hercules has the similar idea about a hero who must save the world and the idea about planets lining up so the bad guys can take over the world

Well, Black Cauldron was written years ago. Unsure exactly how old, but it was written by Lloyd Alexander. And I am thinking it was written before the 1970s at the very least. But it seems MUCH older then that

Hercules's legend has been around since ancient Greece.

And comparing the 3 is really weak. Planets aligning. I've seen that in a LOT of literature and movies.

Eerie? Dark? So was Nightmare Before Christmas. So were a lot of books and movies.

And a hero who must save the world? Isn't that what ALL hero stories about?

What exactly do you mean anyways? You were not very specific. Are you thinking that Hercules and Black Cauldron ripped off Dark Crystal? Dark Crystal was the brainchild of Jim Henson I believe. And it is VERY different then Black Cauldron and Hercules. I see nothing the same about them.
