The reception is better for different companies around the country, Verison owns most of the phone companies in the east that makes it easier for them to get towers there, When I had Verizon I could not get reception around Lake Tahoe, But with Sprint I do, Cingular bought AT&T and that gave them lots more towers, What is cool with T-Mobile is how the minutes can carry over

See I think Verizaon so far has been the best with reception wise at least in my opinion because when I go to visit family, and i do A LOT, i get great reception and its outside the city of Chicago. I was surprised by that because with Cingular I could not get a signal to save my life out there. With Verizon I had perfect signal even in the basement. NOw my other family members who have sprint, T-mobile, and even nextel couldnt get singal out there either so thats the main reason I don't want to switch.. Hmm what does everyone think. Should I just stay with Verizon and my 400min, unlimited nights/weekends, free roaming or switch to T-mobile and get 1000 minutes, unlimited nights/weekends, free roaming for $5 more. I ownder if t-mobile will get better signal anytime soon or at least more towers, in the east and midwest?
My parents and I used to have a shared minutes plan with AT&T, where the three of us had, like, 1000 minutes a month. I never paid attention to the cell service plans before, 'cause I never used my phone much. And I still don't... not for calls, anyway.
Now Cingular ate AT&T (or Qwest, or whatever...
), so we were forced to switch over. I got a shiny new toy in the process, with a camera and everything.
But, for what's important to me with the Cingular plan, I don't like it. I use it to send text messages way more than I actually talk live to people. And the plan only gives 100 free messages - incoming or outgoing - per month. Then they're 10¢ per message after that. I owe nearly $25 for the month of April alone! O_o
Of course, this was all because I hadn't bothered to check the service plans' limits.
So let that be an example, Yaya - I commend your efforts at researching this stuff before you jump!

You didn't mention Carson City in your list. Thanks for the clarification. I was confused!memnv wrote:I do care about the Coverage in Carson City, Nevada. Of the 3 Carriers I have used Sprint has been the most reliable
My brother's Sprint phone sucks. It's a Samsung phone that has reception problems. I'm sure Sprint's coverage is wonderful; the phone is horrible.

My brother has a Samsung N240 with Sprint. Several people I talked to don't like that phone either. The audio in CDMA sounds weird and like a Real Audio clip.
I want to try AT&T and Cingular because they use the GSM 850 MHz band. T-Mobile is stuck at 1.9 GHz in the US and Canada.
