Muppet movies on DVD?
I've noticed that The Muppets Take Manhattan DVD has been in the bargain bins for a while. Wouldn't ya know it, it was the only one I bought back when all the early movies were still in print. I should have bought the original Muppet Movie and The Great Muppet Caper while I had the chance! I didn't realize how much they go for on eBay now.
Does anyone know why those two are out of print and so expensive, while the Manhattan one remains cheap and easy to find? This sucks. I've been in the mood to watch GMC lately and none of the local rental places have it!
Oh well. Does anyone think there's a chance for a rerelease anytime in tne near future?

Down at World of Disney, they've actually got Muppets Take Manhattan for a whopping...$22.99. And I think Muppets In Space (or Muppets From Space, I can't really remember) is around $19.99. Ridiculous.
Maybe Disney'll release a box-set of all the Muppet Movies (The Muppet Movie, The Great Muppet Caper, The Muppets Take Manhattan, The Muppet Christmas Carol, Muppet Treasure Island, Muppets In/From Space, It's A Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie, The Muppet Wizard of Oz).
Wow, I never realized there are eight Muppet movies...

Did Disney actually put out Muppets Take Manhattan? I got it for 6.88 Canadian a couple of weeks ago at Wal-Mart.

Hi
At Wal Mart a few months ago I picked up Muppets Take Manhattan for $5.50 out of their DVD Bargain Bin.

Kermits Swamp Years (which is also in bargain bins)
Muppet Family Christmas (xmas special, just short of an hours length I believe)
Muppet Fairy Tales
But these are lesser known muppet movies.

Hi
Hi,
Also you forgot the rare Muppet Movie. Hey Cinderella! WHere Miss Piggy, and Kermit watch the Cinderella Ballet. And they add little jokes to it. That is a hilarious movie.

No, only three Muppet movies have been Disney-produced:Nala wrote:Did Disney actually put out Muppets Take Manhattan? I got it for 6.88 Canadian a couple of weeks ago at Wal-Mart.
A Muppet's Christmas Carol
Muppet Treasure Island
The Muppets' Wizard of Oz
However, Disney very well may (and almost certainly will) re-release all eight Muppet movies on DVD now that they own them. They're already releasing Season One of The Muppet Show later this year.
Fidget - I don't think the ones you listed technically count as movies.
DG- I'm not sure about the movie you mentioned; I don't remember ever seeing it.
Hmmm... should this be in General Discussion? Maybe, maybe not.

See, I was debating on that but figured it belonged here since I was only talking about the first three movies.awallaceunc wrote:Hmmm... should this be in General Discussion? Maybe, maybe not.

I haven't even seen the Disney produced Muppet movies yet; I guess I was always a little wary of them since Jim Henson was no longer around.

Muppet's Christmas Carol stands as my most favorite Christmas movie EVER. you're depriving yourself by not seeing it. The others, I'm not sure.Sunset Girl wrote:See, I was debating on that but figured it belonged here since I was only talking about the first three movies.awallaceunc wrote:Hmmm... should this be in General Discussion? Haven't seen Oz yet, so I can't promise anything, but the other two really do live up to the Henson standard, in my opinion. They definitely preserve the spirit of the muppets in them. Like Dave said, Xmas Carol is a great one.Sunset Girl wrote: I haven't even seen the Disney produced Muppet movies yet; I guess I was always a little wary of them since Jim Henson was no longer around.

And I was wrong. At World of Disney, MiS is $10.99, not $19.99, though I wonder why that one seems to always be the cheapest one (next to Take Manhattan).
I don't think I've ever seen "Hey Cinderella!" or "Frog Prince". Were they TV specials? Because technically, I don't think that'd count as a movie, unless it was billed as one.
Kermit's Swamp Years probably could count as a movie, perhaps a DTV, since I doubt it was in theaters or a made-for-tv movie.

Though a HUGE boxset would be nice, it'd be nicer if they just release the Muppets on DVD for us fans, please! Best Buy has copies of A Muppet's Christmas Carol ($16.99) & Muppet Treasure Island ($7.50 when they put it on sale), but it's also limited to 1 or 2.
We bought Kermit's Swamp Years because it was in the Wal-Mart bin ($5.50) and also because they showed young Kermit in the picture and boy, was he a cutie!
(But I haven't watched the DVD yet...)

Hi
Yes a huge Muppet Boxset would be awesome, I would be one of the first people to buy it. I hope that Disney/Buena Vista releases a box set sometime this year or early next year. I am getting impatient lol. I am so happy though that Muppet Show Season One is coming out on dvd. I love that show.
