Well, it wouldn't be the first time that this franchise has changed tactics in the middle of the film.
The entire concept on the original TENG was changed from a boring-sounding epic, to the fun film we have today. If this proposed sequel is half as fun as the original, then we are in for a real treat.
I don't think you should read as much into the name. Kuzco is likely to be a major part of the sequel too. Especially as he's getting his own TV series. Synergy people, Synergy. Chances are this DTV will set up the TV series (remember Stitch the Movie and the proposed Atlantis sequel?)
It's likely, Kronk's found himself torn between Kuzco and Yzma (I assume she will be de-cattified) and his dilemma sounds like a good story to tell.
As for the original cast, I'm pretty sure it's written in the contracts of most of the voice artists that they may be required for any sequels. Perhaps some of the top-tier vocal talents may not have this, but I don't think any f the cast of TENG could be listed on "Hollywood's Most Powerful" so I'm pretty sure all will be all present and correct.
okay.... so there's the voice over at http://www.brianfairlee.com/ ..... but where's the trailer itself available?

Do you think Emperor's New Groove will be re-released to promote the new sequel and TV Series? I currently have the single-disc and want to upgrade to the CE, but might hold off if a re-release is likely.

I would think a repackaging is more likely than a re-release, and more likely than either of those is simply a price drop or repromotion. At the $39.99 SRP the Collector's Edition currently has, it's part of a near-extinct class of pricey Disney DVD sets and one would assume the time is right.
But that's just pure speculation. I doubt they'd add anything of substance to the solid CE since most of what's lacking is off-limits, like the "Sweatbox" documentary, for instance.

Kronk's New Groove focuses on Yzma's dim henchman who is now on the straight and narrow. When his dad (voiced by John Mahoney of "Frasier") comes to visit, the mischief begins as Kronk madly tries to win his father's approval. Patrick Warburton returns as the voice of Kronk and is joined by other original cast members plus Tracy Ullman as a potential love interest. Kronk's New Groove is expected to come direct to Disney DVD and video this December, just before the Disney Channel's new original cartoon series "The Emperor's New School" makes its debut next January.
These six screencaps come from a 30-second promo which appears in the Sneak Peeks menu of this month's new Classic Cartoon Favorites DVDs.
i've been getting more and more excited about this release over the past few months and now i'm even more excited. The animations looks pretty close to the original, which is good! now i hope that the story turns out to be ok.

"I love school...to bad classes get in the way"-zack morris...the master of scams
and is goig to be about what?
Kronk as the leader of the chimpunk scouts(or whatever the name is) and they´re going to compete versus another team who their leader is a woman who tries to be the best or is the actual champion?
How original: The screencaps only shows rehash of the most beloved scenes of the first movie ( Kronk preparing dinner, Kronk in the kitchen, Kronk speaking to the squirrels...) I hope they'd find more ORIGINAL FUNNY STUFF in the movie!
And i don't expect the animation to be close to the orignal seeing those caps alas....

I thought the same wen watching Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
Indiana Jones fighting Nazis. Indiana Jones avoiding ancient booby traps. Indiana Jones having a love/hate relationship with the girl. Indiana Jones avoiding death at the big supernatural climax of the film.
If only Steven Spielberg and George Lucas could be more ORIGINAL!

Am I the only one that has been completely turned off by these screencaps?
I absolutely adore TENG and I love Kronk. Ever since I heard about the coming of Kronk's New Groove I have been on the verge of wetting myself my joy! However I can't say I'm even slightly impressed with what I see. I'm sure that the caps don't speak for the whold movie, but they look a little too "modern" for my liking, espescially when you put it into context of the first film. Also the animation isn't exactly supoib! It looks almost the same as Mulan 2 to me, that same soft docile look. Also as Netty pointed out, I hope it will not rely upon past jokes! And where are the other characters?
I desperatly hope that I am wrong, but my interest has just dropped a mile after seeing these caps!
