I'm from Northern California, so Region 1 is my home region.
I like some of the Taiwanese Region 3 Disney DVDs that I have because they included English DTS soundtracks that were not available on our region 1 disc (Monsters, Lion King, Nemo).

I TOTALL AGREE!!!!! THANK YOU!!! Even if you have a Foolscreen TV get WIDESCREEN!!!!!!!!!!! It will still make a HUGE difference! I'd rather watch a movie in WIDESCREEN on a 5" TV than a movie in foolscreen on a 50" TV

Personally I don't see that big of a differences width wise when I watch a movie in full screen or in widescreen. Shrugs.

Trust me, when you'll see films filmed in scope cropped down to full screen pan & scan you'll see a HUGE difference! (for example: Atlantis, Spiderman...)

Yes, Widescreen is so much better than Foolscreen. Yesterday my mom bought National Treasure. And we watched it last night, and I was so mad that she bought it in Foolscreen, I saw it in the theatre 2 times and you miss so much on the Foolscreen Version. I mean it is so silly we have a Widescreen TV and she won't even buy Widescreen Movies lol.

The DVD movies I buy are Widescreen if they're available in Widescreen. I had a The Sound Of Music VHS and it was Fullscreen. I recently bought a Widescreen version of The Sound Of Music and you can tell the difference.

Maybe I'm in the extreme minority, but I recently watched The Sound of Music in widescreen, and while I did enjoy it much more...I think I'd prefer watching it in fullscreen. Maybe because I've seen it so many times when I was little that I got used to seeing only 4 kids when I should see 7.

I unno I never like the black bars on my screen while Im watching a DVD.. Actually yesterday I went to Bestbuy and a worker told me that soon they are going to stop making fullscreen and only make Widescreen, but don't quote me on that! I jsut heard it from a worker.. so there you have it!!!!

I used to hate those black bars but you get used to it. When I watch a WS movie now, I don't even notice those black bars. When I bought The Incredibles, I looked to make sure it was WS as I want to watch a movie in OAR. Watch the movie in the dark and you don't see those black bars.

I've actually got movies where there's both WS and FS in the set and you can choose which one you like.

Don't worry Escapay, I had a similar encounter with Sleeping Beauty. I had the first UK video release (from 1989, 3 years after the first US release

) and watched the pan and scan version over and over again for many years. When I first saw the widescreen version in October of last year, I thought that it wasn't as good as the fullscreen version as that had more sentimental value. I've seen it in widescreen again since, and I do prefer it much much more on second viewing, though. The art work is beautiful.
