Someone told me not to order Walt Disney Treasures

Post by TheBionicWoman »

This person said to cancel my preorder for the Walt Disney Treasures. They said I should wait until I find out if they are uncensored, which means I'd have to wait till December to find out if they are (MM2, donald duck, WS). Ive already ordered 2 and I plan to order the other one later this month. He claims they wont sell out fast and I'll still be able to find it in stores....should I listen to them?

it depends on how bad you want them. the last wave was selling at walmart for 2 or 3 weeks for like $28.99 or something which is where i picked them all up (except for MMB&W due to lack of funds). however, they soon disappeared and now i can't find MMB&W. if these are ones which you truly can't be without and need a garuntee that you'll have access to them then buying online is the way to go. i will wait until they arrive at my local retailer to purchase them, but that's because i don't have the patience for mail order delivery. if i can't find them then it's my loss, but i'm gonna take that risk. if you really really want them and can handle the whole online purchase process then i suggest you DON'T cancel your order. these treasures sets are well worth getting and leonard maltin is good at keeping things uncensored so it'd be safe to bet that these WILL be uncensored material we're getting. hope this helps.

Sure you can listen to this person.

And run the risk of not getting the Tins you wanted and having to look towards eBay to do it.

Well not completely uncensored, since they cut in the DIsneyland episodes, in that tin, in the first wave.

Well, I think that they were edited (for rights clearence?) not 'censored'.

'Censored' really is a nasty word, and is used more times than it is legitimately justified in a lot of cases.

Unless you think the sight of upteen Mouseketeers would give America nightmares :)
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

Like i've said before, the mouseketters got paid for their job back then and if the company now uses the footage they can't say anything about it cause they own the material and you got paid for it! :x

those that can actually find basis to complain about these treasure sets are just as annoying and irritating in my book, as the ultra-pc critics that try to blacklist everything thats released. the disney treasures have been just about the best thing to come out of disney home video.. ever! they are the definitive example of the standards that should be set by studios when releasing classic animation and rare vintage media footage, they are as close to perfection as any studio has yet to come when producing a dvd set of any stature. i cant believe there are people and consumers, that despite the near flawless nature of these sets, can actually still sit around posting message on the internet whining about such trivial and insignificant matters...

I don´t think it´s correct of a big producer to state that something is unedited or uncencored when it actually is!
I also like the Treasure Tins more than every other release from Disney Home Entertainment - but I want them to stick to the true - not lie to their customers, as they sometimes do!
Just because we like animation, we are not childish or stupied!

Agreed....
I have to import the tins and they don't come cheap for me, so I want the best DVD possible! I agree the WDT is a wonderful collection, but it's not right advertise it as uncut and uncensored when they aren't ("Fantasia", anyone?). At least wave 2 was completely uncensored and it also had better bonuses! Let's hope wave 3 continues this trend (which I think it will). Great job, Leonard Maltin!
