Yeah! Water is such an important element in these movies so it shoud be more real and lively. Water in The Little Mermaid II lookd dull and dead. But it is very difficult to animate... But CGI the water, Disney!

You won't see that kind of water. That really is only feature animation level... Toon Studios doesn't get those kind of budgets. I agree though, Ariel deserves it!

The DisneyToon Studios do get that budget. They have been searching for CGI artists for a while this year now as they want to mix CGI more in their titles. In Mulan II there was some CGI animation (the cart and some other things) and in Tarzan II they used Deep Canvas and other CGI enviroments.

Ohhhh GOD!!!!!!1 I hope not!!!!!!!! I am literally praying for a pre- (or mid) -quel!!!!!!!!!!!
As I had said in another thread, I'd love a prequel where we can see baby/toddler Ariel and Flounder (and also all of Ariel's sisters as babies/toddlers!) Plus we'll find out about Ariel's mother, as well as King Triton and Ursula's past!

And there was one episode where Triton became young again. He had red hair and he was a trouble maker. And he wonders where Ariel gets it from
And they had an episode where Ariel and Flounder first met. And a few episodes where she gets glimpses of Eric before she actually saw his face
I remember the series...and both of those episodes! I can never remember the names of the episodes though Oh well....hopefully the series will come to dvd
You can find a good episode guide for "The Little Mermaid" series here. There were some not-so-good episodes, but overall it was a nice series (I loved it at the time it first aired). I also had all of them taped on VHS.

Do you honestly believe that they would produce Prince of Egypt-like water in the near future? I don't.

It was CGI water and it looked really neat. Better then the water in the sequal
But I do believe water can be handdrawn and just as good. Look at the water in Pinocchio. The detail was gorgeous. You felt like you were IN the water with them, while in Little Mermaid, you felt like you were watching an aquarium.
Well The Prince of Egypt is more "real" story... I don't think I have ever met a talking crab, fish or even mermaid! But I see your point... Let's just see. The Little Mermaid III is only in pre-production now probably. It can still be scrapped.
Just because a movie is about a fantastical creature like a mermaid, doesn't mean it should look no less realistic. As I said, Pincchio's water was gorgeous and it was a about a talking puppet and also had a fairy, a talking cricket and fox. Boys turns into donkeys. And so on. Just because it's not based one a story that some consider true, doesn't mean it shouldn't get a good treatment. Lord the Rings was nothing but fantasy, but they went and made that realistic.
Why not make the water more realistic? It is like another world. Like Wizard of Oz did the artistic touch of making Dorothy's Kansas home drab and black and white, while Oz was full of fantastic colors. I think it would be nice to do the same with land and sea. Melody could have saw the land boring and full of bores. While the ocean was this fantastic, beautiful place like nothing she ever saw before. And then in the end, she found that land and sea both have their beauty.
I realized that I was talking nonsence when I re-read my post after reading your post My point is: Why do realistic water in The Little Mermaid III when there was no realistic water in the movies before it? I mean, that would be like updating Ariel with a new nose or other facial features
Well I enjoyed The Little Mermaid 2 but not as much as the first.
I'm not saying it suck it was enjoyable for a direct to DVD.
Looking fowards for TLM 3.

I don't think I have enjoyed ANY sequel more than the original. A sequel doesn't have to either...
Seeing the DisneyToon Studio's track record I think the following sequels will be way better thought-out and animated than the old sequels. That's why I think it's a good thing The Little Mermaid will finally get a decent sequel

I think that Little Mermaid III will be a very nice sequel. I personally am excited to see it.
