The Little Mermaid III
The Little Mermaid III
I absolutely adore the little Mermaid. I am one of the biggest fans. I understand people who dislike Disney sequels but when you love a movie, its heroine and you have so beautiful memories connected with it , how can you be not DYING to see everything new that has to do with it? So I'm looking forward to watch TLM 3. I felt exactly the same when I learned that TLM 2 was going to come out. I don't say that it was a nice movie. But I was curious about what was going to happen after the wedding. Every Ariel fan would like to find it out, I think!!! The second movie's failure does not predict anything about the third movie. We can hope that something better is going to come out this time!!! Animation technology is getting better day by day: they could do things that they couldn't do in the first movie(more impressive water effects maybe!). I think that if they 'd like to present something interesting they should show us Ariel's childhood and everything that goes with it(her mother, young Ursula) or a story about Ursula's beautiful daughter!!
You have interesting speculations about the third movie and those match quite well with the one that I have in my mind, but they're not around Ariel but king Triton as young. He's old now, but who know's what kind of person he was as young and how he became the king and everything, it could turn up well if you asked me. The plot I would'nt like to see at all is "The adventures of Melody's daughter", I mean Ariel as a grandmother.. Oh my god. I'm sure it'll be an average movie, but I would hope it to turn out to be a good movie instead of a movie you just watch ones and forget right away.
Disney DVD's 2005: Bambi PE, Alice in Wonderland SE, Tarzan SE, Cinderella PE - much much more!
Because a Disney classic like The Little Mermaid (or any other Disney film) deserves a so much better sequel. Everything in the sequel is a far cry from the original: from the animation, to the songs, to the plot. It just does not give the original the respect it deserves. And I'd be better off without these sequels, even though I'm happy there are people who appreciate them. That said, I hear recent releases such as "Bambi II" and "Mulan II" are of high-quality so maybe things are changing for the better.

It'll likely be the adventures of Melody when she's a little older. I never saw the sequel, but I got the feeling she was around twelve when the movie took place. This could take place when she's 16 or so. The one thing I don't want to see is another sea witch villain. Do something original. For instance, it could introduce a new undersea civilization: A race of warlike half-human, half sharks. Their city is run down and ruled by a ruthless warrior king and rival of Triton's who has been plotting to launch an attack on Atlantis. Maybe Melody falls in love with the evil king's son and they have to prevent war between the two kingdoms. It's not the most original plot, but at least it's not just rehashing the same plot from the original.
I like The Little Mermaid but wasn't the first sequel bad enough?
There are some Disney movies that i've seen that I really like but I still wouldn't want to see a sequel for it.

Um, no. Bambi II might be good, but Mulan II was one of the worst of the Disney sequels.rodis wrote:Because a Disney classic like The Little Mermaid (or any other Disney film) deserves a so much better sequel. Ditto. The only one I actually thought was worthy of the name "sequel" was The Lion King II. If the animation was better and some of the songs were re-written (Upendi, the love song) I'd even think a theatrical release would be good!

Well the sequel wasnt as good as I thought it was going to be either... but it coulda been worse.
Yeah, I would have to say, I love the sequels & trilogies but some should be left untouched-but even if they sequel it-I'll buy it, gotta support the company & I usually end up liking them anyways.
Maybe the 3rd Mermaid movie will be an in-between-qule like Lion King 1.5
Or maybe it'll have Melody a few years older & meets a merman she falls in love with... (kinda sounds familiar right? Like Lady & the Tramp 2?)
So far my fav sequels have been:
Toy Story 2 (3rd on the way too-minus Pixar of course)
Return to Neverland (the reunion of Wendy & Peter was so beautiful)
Mulan 2 -(loved it all the way... & liked how the trio of soilders got their happily ever after.)
Least Favs:
Cinderella II (c'mon, i love Cindy, but the sequel didnt do it for me-woulda liked to have seen more of Prince Charming)
Atlantis II- (maybe its the whole 3 stories thing like in Cindy 2.... it just doesn't do it for me)
An Extremly Goofy Movie- (I wish Roxanne was in it, shes such a cute character, but I did like how Goofy got a girl!)

I'm just worried that after all their Platinum Edition movies (isn't it funny how the fourteen PEs are the ones with the sequels?)get a third film and all the other movies at least get a sequel, they'll make a fourth film...MickeyMousePal wrote:Well Disney does want to make a Trilogy just like Aladdin, Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King. To prove my theory of Platinum Editions are the ones that get sequels, here's a list of the fourteen movies:
Snow White: No sequel in the works, it's amazing that Disney has left this one alone after so many years.
Beauty and the Beast: They had The Enchanted Christmas
The Lion King: Simba's Pride and 1.5
Aladdin: The Return of Jafar, The King of Thieves
Bambi: Bambi II coming soon
Cinderella: Cinderella II: Dreams Come True and Cinderella III coming soon
Lady and the Tramp: Scamp's Adventure
The Little Mermaid: Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea and now a third one
The Jungle Book: No sequel planned...yet
101: Patch's London Adventure
Pinnochio: Left alone
Sleeping Beauty: Left alone...for now
Fantasia: 2000
What was the fourteenth one???

*shakes head vehemently at this news*
I'm sticking with the original, which I love. The Little Mermaid II was nothing but a remake, with the animation, music, plot, and voice acting leaving much to be desired. It was watchable one time, but I'm never watching it again - EVER. It taints the shine of the original film, and this second sequel isn't making me feel any better.

Didn't they already do an Ariel prequel? The series
The series was better then the sequal, IMO LOL
And there was one episode where Triton became young again. He had red hair and he was a trouble maker. And he wonders where Ariel gets it from
And they had an episode where Ariel and Flounder first met. And a few episodes where she gets glimpses of Eric before she actually saw his face
