Tarzan rerelease?

Post by goofy108 »

I know this has been talked about before briefly and I know that, as of now, there are no plans to rerelease the film, but does anyone else have hope that they will?

I know that I've been holding off on getting this film because I knew the sequel was coming out this year and I also knew a few other countries were getting rereleases (also I didnt buy it because it is so friggin expensive).

I also held off on buying Toy Story. A few years ago I lent my 2 DVD set of Toy Story 1 & 2 to a neighbor and they never gave it back (I didnt ask for it because I figured it would be all scratched up by now and I was hoping for a rerelease for its 10th).

Now, it seems Toy Story is getting a rerelease and that gives me a little more hope that Tarzan will get one also. I know these two are barely related and it is no where close to Tarzan's 10th but why would all the other countries get a rerelease and not the US? I really want this to happen beacause my single-disc edition is broken and wont play.

I figured it was too late for them to announce a release beacause they usually let us know in advance. But recently Disney has been suprising us with new releases that we were not expecting.

What does everyone else think?

I am aware there are many other threads that touch on this topic.

What Im trying to ask in this topic is "With the unexpected rerelease of Toy Story being announced, and the rereleases in other countries, does anyone else still have hope that this film, that alot of of missed out on the first time, will get a rerelease too?

Well as the other thread mentions, Europe is getting an improved release this year, which has a newer commentary than the one on the older US release, so I think there is quite a good chance!

No, sadly the BBFC listing is wrong. Its the same producer/director commentary as before, not a Writers commentary (unless the UK disc is different when it comes, but I very much doubt it)
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

I am all for another release, as long is it isn't the collector's edition with just a couple new features. I was so pissed when "A Bug's Life" was re-released the exact same way as the collector's edition with a game and Nemo trailor. Grrrrrrr! What is the point of collecting something like that if they are just gonna turn around and give it a shiny box and try to sell it to me again? They didn't even make new menus!!!!! lol.

All the new Tarzan 2-disc special edition will have that the collector's edition didn't have is a sneak peek of Tarzan II, as it says in the trailer. That's all... But hey, you don't hear me complain! We didn't get the Collector's Edition here in Belgium, so this will be a totally new release for me :)

I don't mind that they transport our collector's editions into other regions, but the title "collectors edition" implies something special. Plus these "collectors editions" were available for a "limited time only." Re-releasing them exactly the same with a trailor and a game is almost false advertising. From a collector's point of view who collects collectors editions(that was a fun fragment) it doesn't seem fair to release them again with better cover art in a case that takes up less space for a cheaper price. Both "A Bug's Life" and "Tarzan" collectors editions originally cost $35 at Best Buy! I see the same Bug's Life for $15.
