My Script Idea

Post by Jack »

I've been working really hard to come up with an idea for a suspence/horror movie script. I've been a writer for many years, and I've tackled a lot of genres in my stories, but never this one. I've come up with an idea for a script and wanted to know what you guys think of it. Here goes:

Interesting start.

I think it would be more compelling if somehow the "old" boyfriend was in on the scheme the whole time...show them together in the car talking about how well things worked out.

Doesn't seem all that scary, though.

Thats a good idea, Indy. :)

It's not really supposed to be horror, but if the parts where the main man is seeing ghosts and demons and such were put on film, it could be pretty scary.

Personally, I like it because everything in script basically ends up being a farce in the end. Endings like that are cool.

I like it - it's creative.

I have ideas that seem like they could make really great screenplays all the time - but I never write anything down, and I never pursue them. So, once they're gone, they're gone. Can't remember any of 'em. Maybe they're not that good.

Thanks, Luke.

I'm the same way - I get tons of ideas for scripts, but I'm only sometimes compelled to actually write & finish the script.

As a writer I say go for it.

I have written 2 features, and about a dozen shorts. The most I've ever done professionally though is come in the finals of a screenplay contest here, and then haven't really pursued since.

I do aim to make (as in film) something late this year or early next year.

Never give up! It can be hard, but it sounds like you have some good ideas and that is the hardest part of the job done, IMO.

(Also, be careful when writing stuff on the 'net. You can copyright the actual screenplay, but the idea itself CAN'T be made copyright...as you can tell be every identical Hollywood film).

Cool, thanks Loomis. I've written severel other works at a fan fic page over the past 3 years and I've really enjoyed it. Lately I've been lazy and haven't written anything, but I want to make a comeback with this.

Pretty good screenplay. I'm a little confused at how all the money got in the back of the car, because not everyone carries wads of cash around. I could see her taking the car, but not seeing all the cash in the back. hope this helps.

Yes, that's logical.

I'm going to delete the idea simply because I don't like the idea of anyone being able to take it and copy in on the net - it was hasty judgement on my part. Don't worry, I don't suspect any of you guys.

Thanks for all of the input guys! Much appreciated.

I plan to start writing the screenplay tomorrow. :D

Well, at the moment, I'd be making short films. I have a bunch of shorts written, as mentioned, and hopefully work my way up to getting funding for the 2 features I've (co)written.

It's good to see some fellow script writers and movie makers here. It really is my passion, and its great to see other people involved in it too.

Cool! Do you make them with professional cameras? I've made about twenty short films on a cheap camcorder, with a VERY limited crew, cast and no budget whatsoever! :D

Glad to see that you dont' want anyone "copyrighting" it. I want you to get the credit you deserve!

By the way, I decided to name the script "Those That Run".

I deleted it for fear of someone copying it off the site (again, not that I suspect any of you :) )

Once I finish the screenplay and copywright it, I'll probably post it on here for anyone who wants to read it.

I had a meeting with Disney today and they think your story will be good for their Dimension branch, Jack. I didn't actually tell them it was yours, though, so don't worry about it. ;)
