Don't forget:
The Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers (Platinum Series Special Extended Edition Collector's Gift Set) will be out on November 18, three weeks after Finding Nemo's release date.
As hard as it is to do, I will hold of on the 8/26 release in favor of the 4-Disc Edition in November. Hopefully there will again be a movie pass to the 3rd film like there was last year for the 2nd one.

Yeah, I am doing the same. The four disc set was spectacular last time (and I receievd it as a gift actually!). So I wound up with both versions, which is fine too
This time however, my gal and I have a pinkie pact, that she'll get the one that comes out next week and we can both watch it, and I'll get the 4-disc version.

The Platinum Series Special Extended Edition Collector's Gift Set has 40 minutes of never-before-seen footage incorporated into the film. Wow!
Here are two reviews that highly recommend the Two Towers DVD:

I cannot read these reviews because they will make me agonize over the time between releases even more. I have no doubt that the 4-disc EE will be one of the best releases of the year and I would have bought it as a blind purchase had I not even seen the movie.

Hi indianajdp, I haven't seen the Two Towers either. I'm with you. I'll pick up the 4 disk EE if I have any extra money.

Take care
Oh I've seen it. Used the free ticket that was in last year's EE of The Fellowship of the Ring to see it while the wife and daughter were out-of-town. Now last year's WAS a blind buy, as I had not seen FotR.
If you've NOT seen TT, it's DEFINITELY worth the extra $$ for the EE, even as a blind purchase.

ok well guys after much viewing the discs, I just couldnt wait to see the previews of the Return of the King! omg i cant wait!!!!!!!!! hehehe and then the Two Towers Ex. Ed. looks really nifty! then we get Sean Austin's mini film and bunch of online featurrettes so is just the same as Fellowship's features....... the movies looks awesome 2.35:1! sound's good as always. so, if you want the 2 disc set, your cheap or you can't afford the other version. This is a semi-entertaining mini 2 disc set that won't feed your hunger for more LOTR!
I'll be getting the 2 & 4 disc this year, as I did last year, and as I will next year. No duplication of features + theatrical cut on one & Extended edition on the second makes this eventual 18 disc mega set a must have. Too much great stuff on both editions for each film to pass up.

For casual fans of the series, this is for you to own as soon as humanly possible. The picture and sound qualities are excellent and the extras are beyond good for a normal release. For other, more obsessive fans (like myself), pick this up to hold you over until the extended edition hits. The awe and joy of seeing this film for the first time holds its own on the small screen and the trilogy is shaping up to be on the best ever. I have nothing but faith in Peter Jackson, his fantastic crew and his stellar cast
ok i just watched this on the weekend and i found it really boring except gollum and the big dwarf guy he was funny it wasnt a bad movie just boring i fell asleep during at the last hour , but the return of the king looks good so im kinda excited bout it hopefully not as boring , i really dont get how some people can watch this like 10 times, only MY opinion so dont get mad....please
As a big LOTR fan, I bought the 2-Disc DVD and will be buying the 4-Disc set when it comes out. I like to have both versions. As for the 2-Disc, here's my personal ratings:
September 02, 2003 - Thanks to numerous reports from our readers, it seems there is a major problem with this run of The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. What we've learned is this:
* If your LotR:TTT disc is going to go bad, it will always take place at the same spot: in chapter 51, where Gandalf says "The battle for Helm's Deep is over, the battle for Middle-earth has begun." The disc will stop skipping around chapter 52, although sometimes it jumps back about an hour in the disc.
* The most common players prone to this problem are Sony players and the PlayStation 2, but Sony isn't the only victim. People are reporting the problem on players from Toshiba, Panasonic and Apex.
Most folks have been able to exchange their discs, although some had to go back as many as three times before finding a working disc. With enough trial and error they find a working one. My suggestion is if you take back the disc to get a new one, if the store has working DVD players on the floor, open it up right there and try it out.
I've spoken to New Line, they are looking into it. We'll get back to you as soon as we hear from them.
