Someone writes one book that riles up religious types (unjustifiably, might I add), and you crucify the guy for everything he's ever done? Has anyone read Ha Jin? If not, shame on everyone!
He's probably one of America's best writers. He won the National Book Award for Waiting. He has also been a Pulitzer Prize finalist for fiction twice, once for Waiting, and a second time for War Trash.
