I'm glad you liked it but I'm going to have to agree with your parents! I hated the ending. He sees a dog in a car and it's over.

I think the first DVD I bought was an "I Love Lucy" DVD from the first season.

I'm pretty sure it was either The Matrix or Kundun from Region 1.

I know I rented Ronin the night I got my player, and I think I bought Yellow Submarine here early, but technically I bought (as in paid for) those two first.

At least that's the story in my official mini-biography.

I subscribed to a free DVD magazine back in 1999, and I have a couple of issues of that, before I bought my player and first disc.

The first disc I bought was The Music Man: Special Edition on April 20, 2000. The very next disc was Pinnochio: Limited Issue on May 13, 2000.

From April of 2000 through Dec., I purchased 6 Disney titles (including the Toy Story box,) 9 live action titles (as well as 10 more that I have traded off,) and 12 Anime titles.

I only wanted DVDs for my birthday and Christmas that year (and all the years following!)

I have Cast Away, but if it wouldn't have been priced at $5 I would have never bought it. It is ok, but kinda boring, and over long.

I remember buying three when I got a DVD-ROM for my computer. They were The Whole Nine Yards, Money Talks, and Deuce Bigalow.

I didn't buy anything else for months until I got my 1st DVD Player. I picked up Gladiator and X-Men when I got my player.

Harry Potter & the Sorcerer's Stone

It's hard to believe that my first DVD was Harry Potter. But I wasn't seriously into DVD collecting after I bought the Lion King. And if that DVD hadn't been so cool, I would've never thought of buying it.

I'm not entirely sure but I think it was You've Got Mail or something like that. It was only because they were like $3 on Black Friday at Walmart a few years ago and I figured- hey, why not?

I didn't buy a single other DVD until March of 2005 when I randomly saw The Watcher in the Woods on DVD at Target. I almost jumped for joy, then bought it, and then went on a whirlwind of Disney DVD collecting!

After a few months I started buying other DVDs and have since been adding to my collection on an almost-weekly basis :D

When I first replied I said that Charade was my first DVD, and that Swiss Family Robinson was my first Disney DVD.

After digging around my room for more receipts (I used to stick receipts for the DVD into the DVD case, but that stopped when I started buying more than one DVD at a time and couldn't make copies of the receipts), I found that *technically*, Charade wasn't the first DVD I bought.

The first DVD I bought was The Lucy Show, a public-domain release by Madacy with 10 episodes. That was followed by Charade, on the same receipt, so I bought them both at the same time, but The Lucy Show was scanned first, so that makes it the first one I bought.

And Swiss Family Robinson was still my first Disney DVD, it was followed by Tuck Everlasting in Feb. 2003, where I got it used at Blockbuster.

The first DVDs I received as a gift were E.T. Limited Collector's Edition (unfortunately, it was in Fullscreen, not that it mattered as I only watched the second disc), and the old snapper edition of My Fair Lady. Both were Christmas gifts in 2002. Even if I ever upgrade My Fair Lady, I'll never sell the snapper, cause I get sentimental about DVDs given to me as gifts, and I don't have the heart to sell something someone got for me.

If I remember correctly, the first DVD that belonged to me and me alone was Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (the snapper case version). My first Disney DVD was, of course, Aladdin: Platinum Edition. I purchased it on October 4, 2004, the day it came out. The first DVD given to me as a gift was Finding Nemo: Collector's Edition, which I got from my best friend.
