Here's probably the first R1 'review' (used in the loosest sense of the word)

http://www.videopremiereawards.com/HTML ... eauty.html

This confirms the "Making of" on the R1 disc is the same as the international versions (about 15-16 minutes). I was hoping for an extended cut on the R1 DVD.
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

The artwork on the Sleeping Beauty cover is ghastly

Post by wobble-the-witch-cat »

Considering IMHO the painstaking artwork in Sleeping Beauty is so beautiful, the DVD cover art sucks big time. :( The particularly ghastly view of Maleficent and Aurora at the magic Spinning Wheel is so bad Marc Davis and Eyvind Earle must be spinning in their graves!! What do other forum readers think?

I have only just received my copy and so haven't viewed the movie itself yet which I'm looking forward to greatly, but for a studio of the magnitude of Disney the cover art should have been so much better than it is!
Now shall you deal with me oh Prince and all the powers of Hell !!

Aurora and Maleficent at the spinning wheel? I'm guessing that's the back cover art? Either way, I agree that, yes, the cover art (and disc art) is disgraceful. I like the basic layout of the front cover, I just don't like Aurora and Phillip look at the top. Aurora should be wearing blue, Phillip should be kissing her rather than staring at her, and both their faces need makeovers. As for the disc art, disc 2 looks fine, but disc 1 looks like something out of a crappy Barbie movie...ugh...I really hope the SE artwork of Alice in Wonderland, Pocahontas, and Lilo and Stitch fare better than this...

Well, no worries with cover art for Mary or Lilo-Mary is live-action, so there's no real way they can mess up her face. And Lilo is strange looking already, so...
Actually, Lilo is so recent, that I'm sure they'll probably just use some of the promo or poster artwork that's already out there. As long as they don't use the soundtrack cover...that's hideous!

The French DVD Art is much more pleasing. The faces are dreadful on this DVD cover they don't even resemble Aurora and Philip the colours are wrong - it stinks. The Disney organisation simply has no integrity anymore it's all the almighty Di$ney dollar!

The cover does look a little dumb. :( But is it really worth buying it now if there will be a Platinum edition later?

I don't think there will be a platinum edition... I wouldn't plan on seeing this again on DVD, however an HD-DVD release is innevitable, and maybe that will be platinum or whatever, but that won't be for a few years yet, so BUY THIS EDITION while you can, do not wait for a better one, or you may be waiting a long time.

La Bella Durmiente en Tijuana

Post by herman_the_german »

Went down to Tijuana yesterday, and found, to my surprise the Sleeping Beauty R1 R4 DVD. It was priced at about $27.00. Kinda pricey, since I can probably do a lot better once the R1 version comes out.

Probably the January SEs will have classier and more adult-themed coverart. Disney only gives us childsh coverart when there is only one release, like "Sleeping Beauty" and "Monsters Inc.". When there are two releases - standard and special - the double disc edition always has a refined cover - just look at the coveart for "Emperor's New Groove" and "Atlantis". And since the 4 movies coming next year already have the standard edition, I think we should hope for better coverart.

I really really really really want to get it but I really really really really shouldn't spend any money right now as I bought Alias: Season One last week and I'm buying Smallville: Season One in a couple of weeks.

Anyone want to donate twenty dollars to the Satoshi Foundation? :P

I went to Target at 8.30 this am to pick it up. In between running errands and doing chores around the house, I've been enjoying going through all the special features... I always especially like looking at the concept art and still shots of the movie. I can't wait for more Special Edition classics!
