What was your fave toy(s) when you were a kid?
I was also a child of the 80's. I still have most/if not all of my toys from when I was younger somewhere around here. My favorites were Care Bears. But I also had My Little Ponies, Rainbow Brite, Barbie, Popples, Wuzzles, Cabbage Patch Kids, Pound Puppies, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles(I guess I went through a tomboy phase

MY LITTLE PONY!!!
once a fanatic always a fanatic! Two years back I started recollecting MLP (when the new line hit stores). I can't get enough of them!
I also played with Lady Lovely Locks, Puppy in My Pocket and She-Ra[/b]

I had this really cute teddy bear, but when I was six, Kram and I got into a fight as to who it belonged to, and he pulled one way and I pulled another and now my really cute teddy bear has no right arm.
Another toy I had when I was little was this kickass Disneyland castle that I got in Christmas 1989, with little non-moving figurines of Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, Pluto, and 4 moving human figurines (which we called "The Conductor", "The Other Guy", "The Red Girl", and "The Blue Girl"). The castle could open up and the clock's hands turned and you could turn the flags and open the gate and the doors on the balcony, and there was even an elevator (with a sticker of Mickey and Minnie riding it). There were several cars as well. There was a yellow one, and a red bus, and a train (with a passenger car), and even a horse-drawn buggy (with the horse of course). Unfortunately, one day some relatives were visiting and they had the same bag as my sister (this clear plastic thing), and they took the wrong one home (they took my sister's), and it had the Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, GOofy, "The Other Guy" and "The Red Girl". So I just had Pluto, "The Conductor", and "The Blue Girl". And all the flags are broken off of the castle. I still have all the cars, thank goodness. If I could take a picture of it, I would, perhaps so someone else can see it and think "Hey, I have that too! I know what that is! I have a spare that I'll send to Escapay free of charge!"
Lol, just kidding on the spare (though I would seriously pay for one).

I use to have a lot of GI-Joe's, those toy's were awesome. I don't know what happened to them all. I think my parents put them in storage, or gave them away. What I do know is that I haven't played with them for a very long time.
Oh, and I use to have one of those toy proton packs and sliming gun from Ghostbusters, those where cool too. I also had the uniform. I'm a die hard Ghostbuster fan.

toys
Rainbow Brite (still have the dolls to this day in my room..plus I also have like 2 t-shirts of it that I got a Kohl's just for the heck of it), My Little Pony, Cabbage Patch (there is a story that goes with the doll, and it keeps me close to my grandpa to keep it in my room), and of course, like any young girl, Barbie.
Other than that, I honestly don't remember.

I had that exact same castle!!! Man, I played with that thing day and night. I wish I still had it, but alas, I ended up breaking it in two and it is gone now. Glad to see someone else had the same thing!!Escapay wrote:I had this really cute teddy bear, but when I was six, Kram and I got into a fight as to who it belonged to, and he pulled one way and I pulled another and now my really cute teddy bear has no right arm.

God... toys! My most cherished toy of all time was one of those tape recorder things with a microphone that you could speak into it and record yourself.
Well, I would use that tape player to play my second favorite toy, which I guess is only a half-toy for kids since only an idiot gives a kid anything that valuable/expensive to play with by themselves: this collection of Disney story book-on-tapes (audio cassette). Did anyone else here have this??? All the tapes were red, with white labels that had tiny pictures (and I mean tiny) like headshots of the character from the story. It was a boxset about the size of a video-tape collection. And the stories in the set included The Fox in the Hound, The Rescuers, Pete's Dragon, The Jungle Book, 101 Dalmatians, and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. I think there were 8 in total, but I couldn't remember the others. I think it also had Mary Poppins too. But hey, there's another thing that made me an obsessive Disney fan as a kid. I mean, I would watch anything Disney... And I used to listen, this is funny, to The Rescuers tape over and over and over again just to scare myself, because the narrator of that story has this CREEPY damn voice and would scare the living crap out of me as a kid when he would describe the villains and he was just so VIVID as to what would happen. And listening to those stories was a very disorienting experience- which is probably why it's so scary to a kid. It just didn't make sense and I guess that was scary.
Also, I had this school bus toy that would speak/talk the letters, numbers, and/or pictures on these blocks that you would put in this square-shaped holes. So if you were to use all four or five holes, the schoolbus would say all four or five of the sides you left up showing at you. Then of course, I had that See and Say, I think it was called. The sort of wheel of pictures of animals, and when you pull the cord, it spins the dial and the animal it points at it says the name of and then makes the sound of that animal. Then, I also had that thing you would sit on and when you spin the wheel, you go spinning around. But I was a REALLY little kid when I played with that. Because of course it was so small a bigger person couldn't fit on it. Then, another toy I remember was this colored plastic bowling set. The pins were blue and red and orange, and of course the ball was black- but they were all plastic. Then, I barely remember this, and it might have only been a toy at a babysitter's house, but there was this little red and yellow shopping cart and plastic groceries that you would fill it up with.
And then, who could forget about LITTLE PEOPLE. That's another one of my absolute favorite toys. And we, my brother and I, had this really cool McDonalds place, with a drive-through window. You remember Little People, they had no arms or feet but they had stubs with holes in the bottom (which always ended up filled with either bubblegum wads or clay or silly puddy). And you'd move them in this place-sets, with holes in specific places where they'd stand or sit and I guess you'd pretend they were doing stuff. For place(play?)sets, we also had a town set (that had a top and bottom level connected by blue plastic road curves and had cars you could roll down or push up to get to the other level), a school set, a park set (with a cool jungle gym thing, trees, hopscotch, and I think a swingset), and I think a gas station. And I seem to remember a couple of these sets having little sort-of trap doors in them and the little people would slide down the door and I got a huge kick out of that.
There's more, but I'm drawing a blank.
