From thedigitalbits.com:
Also, Buena Vista has announced a slate of five films in UMD format for playback on Sony's handheld PSP game system. The titles include National Treasure, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Reign of Fire, Kill Bill, Vol. 1 and HERO. Specific release dates are unavailable, other than that they're expected this spring. Additional UMD/PSP titles will likely be announced by the studio later in the year.

Same here, but like all electronics, it will go down in price eventually.Zoltack wrote:That's cool... But I won't be able to play it because I don't have a PSP... too poor.
That's pretty cool that some Disney titles are going to be released on the PSP, though. I wonder what the picture quality is going to be like. Either way, I think I'd enjoy the movie more on a bigger screen... but it is pretty handy if you're on the go.

I don't know why TheDigitalBits.com is just now announcing this. These titles have been announced for the PSP UMD format for some time.
At any rate, judging from the picture quality of the included Spider-Man 2 UMD, included with the PSP, movie's will look great on the PSP. It's up to the studio how great a transfer they give, but Spider-Man 2 looks just as great as it does on a big screen.
Now, I'm not really planning to buy any movies on the UMD format. That will change, however, if Disney announces the release of some of their animated films. I'd really love for them to release the Pixar films on UMD. If they do, I'll buy them all, just to have them "on the go".

Yes, and every time someone quotes The Digital Bits simply echoing what we said weeks or months later, it makes me do this:MadonnasManOne wrote:I don't know why TheDigitalBits.com is just now announcing this. These titles have been announced for the PSP UMD format for some time.

Heck, someone even 'announced' it on the forum a week or so after it was on the front page.

I too am going to wait a while to purchase a PSP. I LOVE the concept and how great would it be to just pack a portable dvd player AND video game console all in one?
