November 2003 Australian (R4) releases!

Post by Loomis »

Well!
BVHE Australia have announced their November listings, and it is a HUGE list.
Some of these are already out here and in the US, but stuff to keep an eye on includes:

- Winter Wonderland
- Make Mine Music (WDC)
- Melody Time (WDC)
- Saludos Amigos
- Three Caballeros
(All Nov 19)

I probably will not know until November if they are cut/uncut, but still great news for local punters. We are also getting Mickey's Once Upon A Christmas, but I believe that is back in print in the US now anyways...

Oh, and Luke - you may be interested to know that Man Of The House is being released here on Nov 19. Might be in the proper ratio, you never know?

Absolutely great that list is!

You'll have to tell us whether Saludos Admigos is cut and/or has its original titles restored.

I think the UK will probably be getting Make Mine Music is november as well so that all the package features released in all(?) regions now.

I am interested...very interested! And I quite suspect that it might be in the right ratio. Let me know if you hear anything more. Thanks!

The fact that the UK didn't get Make Mine Music the same time as Melody Time was released makes me think we may get an unedited version (especially after the unedited Melody Time release).

I'm not so sure it will be out until the new year in the UK now - Disney stuff usually shows on the BBFC listings before it is announced, so it's presence in the Australian releases for November is a bit worrying...

Luke, actually Loomis has left a lot of releases off his report - all live action and all possibly widescreen (I think these all got full screen releases in America)

Man of the House (as you know)
Baby, Secret of the Lost Legend
Muppet Christmas Carol (unlikely given the full screen UK release, but possible)
The First Kid

also released is I'll Be Home For Christmas which is widescreen already in R1 based on your review.

I'll borrow a joke from an e-mail I got today, but I wonder if "First Kid" will be a Special Edition with an audio commentary by Brock Pierce recorded from his jail cell in Spain.

Does the R4 Man of the House release mean an R2 is forthcoming? Seems like the UK and Australia is on the same page, a lot of the time.

I just found out today, too. The "First Kid" kid has been imprisoned in Spain for about a year now for possessing child pornography. Once he gets out, he'll be looking at an even longer sentence in the US. He was one of the executives of an online company DEN that made millions and millions, and it turned out he and two others were drugging young teenagers and raping, molesting them for their videos. The company went bust, of course. All that before he turned 20. The child actor curse continues.

Yeah, I just couldn't be bothered copying them all over at 1 in the morning.... :D
I just put down the ones that excited me... (because it is all about me as you know).

It is actually really surprising that BVHE is releasing so many titles in one month.
Mind you, they have been putting stuff through the ratings board all year that hasn't been released until now, so I supspect that the December list will be pretty big too...

Eh, it could go either way at this point. And knowing Disney Australia PR, I won't know until they are in my hands.
The OFLC normally shows stuff before it is announced here too, but...I'm not too sure if there are cuts or not, the OFLC is not specific as to stuff like that.

In fact, Make Mine Music has not been through the ratings board since an old VHS release (and I don't know whether that had Matrins & Coys on it at all). At the very least there is no listing on their website. In fact, none of the 'edited' ones are on the OFLC site (except Saludos which was passed way back in June), which makes me think (or hope) there are possibly new versions that are to be passed.

I don't know. I figure this much - it is waaaay cheaper for me to buy edited versions here, than it is for me to get them overseas :D

Make Mine Music was edited on it's DVD debut in America and on the last VHS release in the UK (in the year 2000).

Instead of the small edits in the other Disney films, with Make Mine Music Disney decided to remove a whole musical segment from the film. With no explanation. The segment was the Martins and the Coys, about feuding American "hillbillies"

Some people think the segment was cut due to all the guns being fired throughout, while others think it was so as not to offend modern day, er, Hillbillies I suppose.

Nobody knows the real reason it was removed, but being as Europe and Australia don't have that many guns or hillbillies, there seems to be no logical reason it should be removed from these territories.
